    1998 90 Series 2.7 Petrol - Excessive fuel consumption.

    The make is unknown and so I assume it is a replaement to the orginal. The point is that it was running fine until the mechanic that replaced the head gasket took it out and put it back in - somthing has changed, although it is running very smoothly.

    Hello All, After replacing the head gasket and one of the jets in the carburetor, my 90 Series has gone from achieving 10km/litre (30mpg) to 5km/litre (15mpg) combined fuel consumption. I suspect it is still a carburetor tuning problem but any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Nick

    1999 J90 FE 2.7L running badly at low revs.

    Hi Beau, Thank you for the reply. The engine definitely has a carb and I just replaced the Chinese copy with an original Toyota one and the engine is running better, but not as it should. There is also more carbon than there should be on the valves. There are no warning lights on.
