    Welcome back

I've just received my email welcoming me back and I don't know if it was coincidence or what but I am just in the process of getting my 100 series it's last MOT report (under my ownership) as I have recently downsized to a Freelander and no longer need my Landcruiser. I already miss that lovely...

    'Power Heater'

I believe the "why" is because it is used to increase the revs which prevents rough idling on a very cold diesel engine. I do not know how it does it.. Perhaps it alters the ecu. The switch on the 100 series diesels should automatically turn off.

    Rear Diff...Is this normal?

Right, I've just been out and raised the drivers rear wheel and tried to repeat the scenario......blow me the wheel turned.....about 4" at the tread and that was all  I know for sure that I could continually rotate the wheel before, I even looked carefully at the prop and other wheels in...

    Rear Diff...Is this normal?

I can confirm that I do not have a limited slip diff. I have checked the rear diff locker warning light and it lights on bulb check and goes out promptly after. I presume therefore that the rear diff lock is not engaged. If my rear diff behaved as a normal, I would have expected that any one...

    no door mirror heater

Oooh dear I have just been into my car and I can see a separate switch for the heated wing mirrors :o ... I plead old age and the fact that my car has been out of use for nearly a year.....but then the circuit diagram is incorrect. The heated mirror switch is the left most switch of the bank of...

    Rear Diff...Is this normal?

Sorry Jon, I do have a rear locker and a centre locker too. It seems there are various ways of interpreting those blasted confusing axle codes...I've spent nearly an hour trawling the net and got it wrong then!!!

    no door mirror heater

I've re read through your original post. The front heated seat switches are located on the console over the transmission near the gear levers. In the circuit diagrams for our 100's the rear window defogger switch is the one that also operates the heated mirrors, in fact the switch is labelled on...

    Rear Diff...Is this normal?

Thanks all I will go and check when there's a bit more light tomorrow, my guess is that any sticker that was there may long since have parted company with the diff, I will still look though. The VIN indicates an "A04A" as the code, which I'm lead to believe is 7.5" ring gear with ratio of 4.3 or...

    Hello

Ah noo! Some tell me it's a lot worse ;)

    no door mirror heater

You don't say what year your 100 series is but according to the wiring diagram that I have the rear defogger switch will operate the wing mirror heaters through their own relay and fuse so if it's not working and you've checked the fuses and relays the only thing left to check is the mirrors for...

    Advice needed

Does your lpg system use the petrol fuel gauge Chas? My lpg level is supposed to indicate on the switch via a series of leds on the switch (long since given up just shows empty now, not enough weather sealing around the sensor on the lpg tank).

    no door mirror heater

I'm not 100% sure but have you tried operating the heater switch whilst the wing mirror adjustment switch is set in the centre position between left and right, that might have something to do with it.

Some changes to the MOT regarding HID & ECU's

I wonder if an lpg conversion would come under the same umbrella as an ecu modification? I can see there'll probably have to be reams of info to read through in order to define what actually is being targeted here. Is it about performance upgrades or is it about making sure every vehicle still...

    Advice needed

Could it be the Lexus doesn't actually just measure the fuel in the tank but the onboard computer uses speedo and other info to calculate what should be left in the tank? I'm sure some cars do this.
