    100 series being a D**khead

Hi Gav, if you are able swap in another body ECU which sits above the radio. I have seen very odd electrical behaviours when these are on their way out on the pre facelifts.

    Pre facelift (2000) breaking.

From what I understand, you change the front oil pump casting and replace with one from a 12v 80, this allows you to run a manual pump from the 12v. That removes the need for the engine ECU which the electronic pump needed. Possibly the injectors need changing but that's where my knowledge gets...

    Pre facelift (2000) breaking.

Breaking my front end damaged 100 during the bank holiday. This had been featured in the engine rebuild thread. https://www.landcruiserclub.net/community/threads/pre-facelift-engine-rebuild.156321/ Wings, bonnet and front bumper are toast. Doors in good nick, upper tailgate fair. Grey Interior...

Toyota Prado 120 Neutral start switch

I believe the cooler is filled when the gearbox pump is running, once the engine is off the fluid will run back into the gearbox. So you should be able to undo the pipe at the cooler end with only a few drips.

    Heavy steering.

The centre diff lives in the transfer box and electrically engaged, essentially coupling both propshafts ensuring power reaches both axles on the loose stuff. Think of it like a 3rd axle running the length of the vehicle.

That is your centre diff lock button. Only ever use on loose surfaces but good practice to "exercise" every now and again to keep the actuator from seizing.

    Heavy steering.

The LC4 and LC5 variants have ATRAC, IIRC under 2K revs and ATRAC pulses the ABS on the slipping wheel on an axle to try and send power to the other wheel. Worked well in some muddy conditions at Lincomb but not great in really thick claggy stuff. Engage centre diff for slippy or snow...

    Heavy steering.

It may well be that the UJ is corroded and sticking in the column itself. If you look at where the column joins the steering rack and follow it up you will see the UJ. It's this section that is known for this, a royal pain in the proverbial to change too and you must ensure you are spline...

    Spring Pub Meet 26 - 28th April

Another chance to have a "do nothing" weekend at a pub. There is no charge, rather an expectation to buy a few beers or have a meal in the pub during our stay. The field can fit around 20 Cruisers or so on the flat area. The location is the Stratton Arms, Turweston, Northants, NN13 5JX...
