    Replacement Flexible Brake Hoses

Hello fellow 70 series owners. I'm planning to replace the flexible brake hoses on my LJ79 after I found some serious wear on the existing ones during the front wheel assembly rebuild I completed last week. One PITA that I came across was the solid metal brake pipe (47343-60060) connecting the...

    1990 landcruiser coolant/heater hoses

Hi Jessica, Sorry to hear about your struggles. I have zero experience with 80 series and I'm unfamiliar with 'explosion diagrams' :icon-biggrin: but your most helpful first port of call will be www.toyodiy.com . Enter the VIN/Chassis number of the vehicle then you can find the Toyota assembly...

    Wonky springs - please advise!

Thanks Roger. Your explanation has definitely helped me to understand the issue now. To complicate things slightly, however, my steering has some wander and very little returnability even before the suspension lift so I'll have to look at the steering gear etc. before making any correction to...

    Wonky springs - please advise!

Ok great - big thanks Roger. Good to have it confirmed as a castor angle issue. I can easily get a set of Iron Man or Dobinsons castor correction bushes within the next few days. Looks like these - https://www.superpro.com.au/show-product/superpro-bushing-kit/orphan-SPF1721K - or the IM...

    Wonky springs - please advise!

Front shocks are OEM and but rear are Robs Magic which are much longer than standard. Old rear shocks were sitting near to fully extended but front have plenty of travel both ways. I haven't got in touch with the supplier, I may well do but hoping for some experienced insight into this from 1...

    Wonky springs - please advise!

I bought them from SaiRaj in Nairobi - the official supplier of IronMan 4x4 parts in Kenya. The product codes are stamped on the side of the coils and match the IM catalogue. The first set of rear coils they sent looked scratched/worn as if they had been a display pair. I called the supplier...

    Wonky springs - please advise!

Hello fellow 70 series owners! A few weeks back I had my mechanic replace my old and embarrassingly weak coil springs with new Iron Man 50mm lift 'performance' springs all round. Yesterday I fitted new longer, rear shocks to match the new coils. While I was under the vehicle I noticed (see...

    91 LJ 78 Diesel Prado

Hi all, I've been hunting around for AGES to find a service/repair manual for my old LJ79 - 3L 4-speed. She's about to hit the 400k milestone and it's definitely time to take apart the front wheel assembly and refit tie-rods, axle seals and pretty much every suspension bushing under there. I've...

New to the club! - Land Cruiser "Mark 2" LJ79

Hi Iwan! That's great to know. The old 3L motor definitely needs some attention but if it's possible to overhaul and fit the 2lt turbo then I'd much rather go down that route. I do like the 3L engine and sounds like a cheaper option. I'll look up the post later on. First, however, I'm fitting a...

New tyres and springs for LJ79

Hi all, after some basic repairs (on a budget) of my old '91 LJ79 it's time for a suspension upgrade and appropriate tyres, and I'd like to ask some advice! Current tyres put on by previous owner are 235/85 R16 A/T Dunlops which are just not at all what should be on this car if you ask me...

New to the club! - Land Cruiser "Mark 2" LJ79

Hi all! My name is Ewan and I'm out full time in Eastern Kenya. I recently bought an old LJ79 from a friend who moved home for an absolute steal of a price. It even still has one of the original 'Mark II' badges! It's a '91 with 350k km but down the line I'm planning to fit an engine with more...
