Hello all,

I think I have wondered into minefield - again.

I am wanting to buy an LCD projector, so we can watch movies on the white wall, or buy a retractable screen.

What started off, was just a "thinking" that I wanted a resolution of 1280 x 800 dpi.
A decent contrast ratio, and possible 3D compliant.

Well I have found so many that just do what I want, it is now difficult to focus on what I originally wanted.

This is up scalable to 1920 x 1080 (1080p)

I found this complete with TV tuner etc.

Interface: USB\SD\AV\TV\VGA\HDMI*3\YPbPr\S-video\Audio-out
Audio output: stereo 10W*2
Projection size: best 25-300 inches
Projection distance: 1-8 m
Image flip: flip/mirror
Keystone correction range: ± 15 °
Focus adjustment: manual focus
Projection way: vote/projection/lifting
Total power: 220W
Noise at work: below 26db (ultra quiet)
Menu language: Russian-French-Chinese English as standard, \ \ \ \ \ German Spain \ Portugal language \ Italy
Body size: 33*24*12cm
Weight: 3.6KG
Random Accessories: power cord, VGA cable, remote control, AV signal cable, user guide, cleaning mirrors, spare fuse

Machine warranty: 36 months (except for accessories, except human factors)

What is there that doesn't look good, and what is missing that I should be looking for?

Is 1280 x 800 giving a clear projected image at say 4 meters?

Gra.

I would go to a proper AV Specialist shop and talk through your requirements and be guided by their advice, secondly I would get them to set up a couple of models and actually view the quality of the image. Treat it the same as if you were buying a decent hi fi system. A decent specialist shop that is reputable should have no issues doing this for free.

If you decide not to buy, then you have got all the information you need to go and buy what you need from another source. One common "dodge" that a lot of high street shops do is to "demo" using cartoon material as that always looks good even on a crappy TV or Projector. Better that you take a Blu Ray of a film that you are familar with so you get a true opportunity to check the image parameters.
