Aa442F, A440 auto woes !! (once again)

I thought it be to good to be true, auto box is now playing up again, been running good for a while. I have another thread on here explaining my other problem I had with auto box, all been good until now.
Over the last few weeks the autobox has become non compliant when wanting to pull out of junctions or over taking, sometimes engine just wont rev !!!
Spoke to auto box specialist who said he take a look, after his tests he says box is fine and thinks its a engine problem, engine runs fine, sound nice and is in good health so that made him think its a communication problem between engine and box. I believe my box is a a440 but on vin plate it says a442f, I have the mechanical connection between box and engine, I believe like on a 70 series truck. what my question is does the box "speak" to the engine in another manner than the cable operated device ??

PERHAPS SOMEONE can enlighten me on the difference between the two boxes, is one electronic and the other not ?? cheers

I said we may have issues with this this one mate.

If I remember right your truck should have the 440 box in it.

the 442 are electronic but the early boxes are hydraulic.

You bought the truck with box issues didn't you but ou have flushed it a good few times. Very much dout you will have an engine issue. Is the kick down cable nice and free?

Sounds like the box isn't dropping into first gear. Nothing to do with the engine not actually reving.

Hey karl, how you doing fella ?? we need another meet, I got roof tent and few other goodies now lol
I set the cable like it says in the manual one of the guys on here sent me, it all seems to be moving freely.
Any advice who I can take the truck to and have a look at it, I have not driven another 80 to compare it with so not sure how it should behave but im sure it never came out of factory like it is now lol. I not bothered about travelling to a garage, it be a road trip

I think its going to be the box to be honest. Hope it isn't for your sake though.

I have days like that as well were I can;t seem to get out first gear- have your tried pouring coffee into it...

Valve bodies, clutches and oil changes, (supposed to be every 20 -25 000 on service schedule got a guy with 600k on his from new). Saying no more. Yes its an A440 F fitted to this vehicle (no electronics) and yes they like an extra cooler and yes they love an oil change other than that they are bomb proof enough said. Basically its tired from a lack of maintenance.

hi iwan ! i done the tests i was capable of doing and all seems good, i think my problem lies between the communication from engine to box, had box checked by auto specialist and they say it ok, i would like to try another 80 just to compare it. perhaps there nothing wrong and the gear boxes are just terrible, which i doubt !!
