These terraced gardens, called Ferozshah Mehta Garden, are located at western side at the top of Malabar Hill in Mumbai.

These are quite incredible Chas, must admit.

I don't know whether you noticed, but we've got some small box trees in our garden which as they've grown, I've cut them into a conical shape. Topiary I think they call it, and for simple shapes it's not a difficult thing to do.

Trouble is, despite my attempts to fence the garden, the neighbour's dogs, sheep and even goats have come in and played merry-hell with them one way or another.

The dogs cock their legs and 'burn' the plants with their pee, and the sheep and goats just eat everything in sight that they can reach.

So I have every sympathy with the guy making such a good job of those elephants, maybe he also has a shotgun to blast the bloody dogs, sheep and goats in the area .

Just an idea Clive and maybe a worthless one but i have often wondered if crawling ivy and hay bales might make for a cheap and cheerful but permanent boundary wall/hedge ?

Possibly Shayne. The first step I did was to install a chain-link mesh on the existing wooden fence. Then I planted a privet hedge. The mesh protects the hedge from the sheep & goats, so it should work.

The ivy idea is good, but it's much harder to control. There's almost 200m of hedged boundary and I'm not getting any younger :violin:
