My latest clock to restore has turn of the century type hands. Someone decided to modernise the clock at that time but it was made about 1850 so I decided to make some original style hands. Cut out of stainless steal, filed, polished and blued then fitted to the original hubs. This is a VERY big clock for it's style. Now I can strip it all down and make other bits required.

Any chance of a pic of the hands that you've replaced?

I just want to see the difference between "turn of the century" and these 1850 look-alikes.

These are the "new" hands. The original ones were cut short and new ones soldered on top.

This is a worn pivot so I had to grind it off and drill a 0.05" hole with a carbide drill as the pinion is hardened and polished. Then I made a new pivot and pressed it in. Slightly bigger so I could ream the old bush out clean.

I'd have problems attacking this project with my 1/2" drive socket set, I'd imagine.
