got a call off em today, cars got a puncture in the car park at work. so I down tools and set off. when I get there I empty the entire boot of pram, dog cage etc, etc looking for the spare, I lift a floor panel and I'm confronted with a bottle of latex and a crappy compressor..
ok.. get over it, things change.. I remove the valve and empty the stuff into the tyre and rig up the crappy compressor. it pumps its little heart out but not much is happening other than a pool of white gunk forming on the tarmac. the puncture is in the sidewall as always and the hole is too big for the latex to plug.
ill have to get a new tyre. look for the jack, should know better by now. there isn't one. so use the 80s jack and start unbolting the wheel, locking wheel nut.. now where is that.. empty both glove compartments, both door junk holders, nothing..
"EM!! wheres the locking wheel nut socket?"
"whats a locking wheel nut?"
####!
ok, I find it in the bottom of the centre console.
chuck tyre in the 80 and drive the three miles to town, normal place I use is shut cos its a bank holiday, ok theres another one that I try not to use but needs must. great there open.
"sorry, we don't have anything in that size mate"
FFS!
ah! I remember I have some old 16" rims with winter tyres on from her old rav, new rav has 18". so another three miles back to base then six miles back to ems work..
it clears the calipers..
sorted.
I can cope with a space saver, but this shambles?
some pics of the "action"
the 80s jack is a cracking little jack.
