Hi all,

It's nice to join this huge community of Land Cruiser enthusiasts. I have a few expert contacts here in Japan but I'm trying to broaden my horizons by learning how you all get around the issues of sourcing parts and what not.

I have two incredible cars:

1980 BJ41v-KCY, only 95,000km. However it's got a bit of blow-by gas and a suspected compression leak, and I'm trying to figure out how to find the parts to rebuild the engine (or find another solution.

2003 1HZJ76v: about 220k km, zero issues, runs like a brand-new car. It has a 2-in TERRA lift kit from Motorage.

I'm trying to keep the BJ41 as genuine and as stock as possible. I don't wanna lift it or mod it in any way (or very little). The 76, on the other hand, I'm considering putting airlockers in it, a snorkel, and some more intense mods to ship it abroad for international excursions in the future.

I don't have a lot of 4x4 experience. I bought the BJ41 a year ago, and the 76, 3 years ago.

They're both driven mostly city streets. The Bj41 has seen minimal forest service usage.

The 76 gets quite a bit of snow and more intense situations like this trail here:

In any case, apart from sourcing the parts and getting professional help rebuilding the 2B engine, I plan on updating the BJ41's shocks and the bushing myself. The most work I've done on my own is changing the fuel/oil filters and I'm super excited to step up the game and getting my hands dirty :) I'm sure I'll be asking for a lot of help. Thank you in advance - and happy to answer any questions about the Land Cruiser culture in Japan.
