Fuel Filter light but clean filter!

Is it a "blocked filter" warning light ? or more likely a "water in fuel" warning light ? The latter is often the sensor itself or the wiring too it . The sensor works by measuring the resistance through the fuel and as water is a better conductor than diesel it will set off the warning...

"According to Aussie youtubes etc. the 2.8 has been tuned to actually have a bit more power and torque to its V8 4.5 diesel counterpart. The V8 has been undertuned a lot to meet emissions etc, but this can be modded to give you much more power and torque". The 2.8 is already in a pretty high...

    dashboard reflections

My 80 series one is held in place by a few double sided securing strips.....never moves at all and keeps the interior a bit cooler somehow when parked in the sun . The black flock is permanent...... and we sent the dash away ...I don't think it's a DIY job

    dashboard reflections

Get a dash mat from Oz or SA ....got one in the 80 and it looses all those annoying reflections . We used to get the dash on our rally cars coated with a black flock like material that did the same thing.....

    LC 300

There's a company who's name eludes me who have made propshafts for us as diverse as a Sherman tank to the winch drive prop on my Halftrack and a Jap pickup truck ..... a proper old fashioned company who've forgotten more than most know .... they could most likely just replace the splines on...

    a lot of warning lights

Toyota did do "service exchange" alternators years ago for 80's .... I got one and pretty sure it was a new one but at a fraction of the price . My local repair guy also sells new and will supply cheap China or quality alternators and starters depending on customer requirement ....or price request .

Mud Block moulded mats, where to buy?

It was a 1987 one so the original "classic" they call it now I think ..... 3.9 V8 Vogue SE..... The rear one is in 2 pieces that should interlock but because the rear footwell of the 80 is narrower they overlap so not perfect . They were an official part back then so I doubt they are available...

Who's using what air-down tool for their tyres ?

I saw those and looked at the price of Staun ones and thought too good to be true and the first time you used them they would fly apart..... at that price they are no doubt carefully crafted by China's finest engineers out of chinesium but I won't use them every day so may give them a try and...

Depends if you go for a quality Denso one or some made in China copy.... With labour and parts you can indeed spend more than a Chinese one can be bought for repairing an OE one.... but if properly repaired the OE one will outlast the cheap copy . It's often just the diode pack but if I'm...

Mud Block moulded mats, where to buy?

I know it's almost swearing but...... in a previous life I had a few Classic Range Rovers as company cars and had a set of original R Rover moulded rubber mats that I found fit pretty well in the 80 especially the fronts ...interesting and useless fact..... despite being a much bigger vehicle...

    Heater question

    1hdft 3" exhaust upgrade

Strangely our 1943 Dodge WC52 does exactly this but exit is in front of the rear wheel...by a couple of feet ....after 1000's of miles of a 6 cylinder petrol engine converting fuel to noise we have had no issue with increased tyre temp on that side.... next time we are out for a run I'll try the...

    1hdft 3" exhaust upgrade

Several have as it's easy ...the worst or most complicated bit of the system on an 80 is getting it to run nicely over the rear axle and exit correctly.... not sure fumes would be an issue when driving along but may be if sitting in traffic of slow off road sections with the window down....

Not got any further with this.... I can't share the pictures they sent me but the pics confirm what we both think that the rear section is lower than OE....which seems daft seeing as the first time you go backwards in some deep mud or the like you'll stuff the pipe with crap or worse bend it...

I'd love to see a dyno print out on where the power and torque curve is... Should I upgrade injector nozzles - 1HDFT

You can upgrade the injectors but...... You also need to upgrade the injection pump at the same time , you then need an upgraded turbo with more boost etc , you then should probably upgrade the headbolt's and you will need an intercooler..... you then need to have a 3inch exhaust system..... and...

I know I know.... another tyre question... sorry

And to add if you've an auto I don't think you will notice even towing a heavy load.... it's only an issue for me with 3 tons plus and a manual box and then only on steep hill starts fully freighted
  35. G

I know I know.... another tyre question... sorry

I would say if you are never or very occasionally tow then you will not have a problem... OE was 275/70/16 but they seem to be very rare.... I had 265/75/16 with a 2 inch lift and they didn't look out of place with a 2 inch lift but were chunky AT tyres
  36. G

I know I know.... another tyre question... sorry

Only thing to be aware of is if you have a manual going to 285/75/16s is right at the upper limit gear ratio wise for towing... Unloaded or loaded with just the vehicle isn't an issue but with a trailer and any amount of load 1st becomes too tall for hill starts etc ....also on mine the speedo...
