Who is doing what maintenance today?

I've no idea how good factory springs are but I fitted a coil spacer lift on all 4 corners once and wasted a good few hours trying and failing to work out why the ride felt so much better . SWB 90 with old knackered and maybe original springs .

Who is doing what maintenance today?

Toyota's own springs and a spacer might work

    RIP Big George....

I always thought he wasted the first 4 rounds against Ali on a strategy doomed to fail . Somebody in his corner was telling him to hurt the body so he can't dance . By the 5th he was to tired to do what comes natural .

    My trailer. A start.

Had i found cunningham covers earlier my trailer would have looked very different . No need for ripstop and rot nonsense on a trailer and you can fold up a wet tarp no worries at all .

    My trailer. A start.

Have a look at cunningham covers for ideas Gav , was years ago now but I found their prices very reasonable . Previous comment about suspension made me think on , was it Timbran mentioned not long ago on the forum ? , Lose a couple of leafs to account for the lesser weight and add a rubber...

    The search for fuel economy

Not sure you could find them for a V8 but swapping diffs from an auto into a manual truck I think lowers gearing and I'd expect visa/versa . Bigger tyres travel further for each rotation so yes greater speed at lesser revs but as you say the greater weight might prove counter productive ...

    Rear drawer reccomendations

Sounds daft but driven nuts trying to find what i need amongst the multitude of tools in the back of my 80 i recently acquired a couple of plastic fish boxes dating from the 1980's which were far better than modern ones because they were designed to hold as many fish as possible in the smallest...

Anyone else have a grey wire as one of the 7 going to tow socket ?

I know thats why it confused me , ain't no 30 year old virgins , I removed maybe 30ft of wire relating to gadgets fitted retained/removed by previous owners while I was at it . No brown wire going to socket in my 80 .

Anyone else have a grey wire as one of the 7 going to tow socket ?

Heavy white ground wire wasn't connected me thinks , I removed the jack housing bracket over christmas to knock out a dent and fit new tail lights so i guess it fell off when i undone the bolts and i never noticed to put it back on . Also worked out there has to be a jumper wire between my grey...

Anyone else have a grey wire as one of the 7 going to tow socket ?

Heavier than the rest white I'm assuming is the ground . Actually having removed the jack housing to see if the grey followed on from a different colour just before it went dark I find the heavy white was likely earthed via a large ring held by housing bolts .

Anyone else have a grey wire as one of the 7 going to tow socket ?

I've blown 4 tail light fuses trying to work it out . Old socket still looks brand new on the outside but inside was so bad not a single wire was still attached . Only thing I know for sure is the standard socket wiring shown with all 7 pin does not work .

    Bad juddering after running 60mph

    Bad juddering after running 60mph

The handbrake works by spreading shoes that contact the inside of the rotor and it is properly adjusted by taking rear wheels off and using a screwdriver to turn a cog . Its very unlikely you will need new rotors .
