Good point, mine are 265, so not quite wide enough

Who is doing what maintenance today?

I've been thinking about getting these ramps https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Hydraulic-Car-Ramps-Lift-2-Ton-Lifting-Jack-Heavy-Duty-Garage-Lift-Vehicle-UK-/165151655564?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Not sure though

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

All valid points Steve and why I don't subscribe to the notion that EVs are the silver bullet. I think they are actually worse for the environment for the points you make. I'm no eco worrier and for me is purely a personal financial decision. A point made in another thread is that we need...

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

@Higgy isn't that how cars and fuel infrastructure evolved? Cars must have driven the buildout of petrol station as the demand was there. If you don't do many miles, or just local driving, then it's not so bad as you just keep it charged up daily, so you always have enough range. Just a...

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

I've not been brave enough to leave it at a airport as I don't want the hassle of a flat car 11pm at night after a long flight. Having said that during COVID it sat on the drive fully charger and lost about 10% to 15% a week, so not too bad. To get the best battery life recommendation is to...

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

Agree with you Stu, I don't think I would buy my own Tesla back at the end of the lease. The battery life will degrade, how bad that will be I don't know. As it's a company car, I don't care, I'll just give it back and get another when 4 years old. I think anytime soon, prob within the next 2...

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

They quote their manufacturers ranges and defo downplay the range issues. It's very easy to get caught up in the glamour and tech in the Tesla's when in the showrooms, so easily to get distracted. When I got mine there was no other choice that got close to the range so it was a no brainer, but...

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

Lol, stated range is as bad as the stated mpg numbers for ICE. Mine is claimed to be 320 miles, I can just about get 170 miles and it's even worse in winter. Ok, I do have a heavy foot and typically cruise at 78mph, which doesn't help. Fortunately I do benefit for the Tesla super charging...

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

Not sure on replacement batteries, but is this any different to the current throw away society that change cars every 3 years? Disposal and actually fire risk is a big problem. Home charging is a issue for many with no off street parking, fortunately I have that luxury. Employers are providing...

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

Yes defo saves me a lot. Although it's a company car, its over my allowance so I have a monthly payment, but even with that, I'm still better off just on the fuel costs. I do think for shorter journeys EV does make a lot of sense, for longer journeys where I have to stop and charge for...

Rising Energy Costs and Electric Vehicles

I've owned a EV for 2 years now, and will typically do 150miles a day (outside of COVID). Costs is about £40pw to charge the thing every night for 5 days. Doing that in my 120 for the week that is 2.5 refills so around £200pw. Add in VED servicing etc, I'm even better off. I have done 22k...

    Advice for potential LC5 acquisition

I'm sure one if the 80 crew will be along and comment on it shortly. 80's are very well regarded, but they are getting along in years now so there will always be something that needs doing. I've not driven one so can't comment on what it will be like on a long drive, but again with 80's...

    Advice for potential LC5 acquisition

Personally I think it's a bit pricey for a 2003 LC5, but as per Karl, I think condition underneath is the most important thing to check. It is also the older box, but being 2003 has lower tax.

Whilst this is an exciting "debate" I remind you all to stick to the forum principals. Any further discriminatory, racist etc comments I'll ban the individual and lock the thread. I have better things to do with my time

    Tow bar electrics advice needed

I don't have the details anymore as I fitted my towbar long ago, but I did manage to find a Toyota OEM loom off eBay. This connected to either side underneath the rear with the relay housed behind where the jack is kept. Bumper off job to fit it.

2019 150 sudden high fuel consumption after service

Did they service the brakes? If it's not coasting as before could the brakes be binding? Should be easy enough to check, jack up each wheel and see if it spins freely

    Repairing a vandalised ignition barrel.

Don't know. I soon realised not to rely on the App or phone when I could not unlock it at a supercharger.... Spent about 30mins restarting phone etc .. I know always carry the card and an neurotic about leaving either the phone or wallet in the car, as I'm sure it will lock me out after closing...

    Repairing a vandalised ignition barrel.

The Tesla app is in addition to the plastic key card. I wouldn't solely trust a app and as such I always have the card in my wallet. Having said that never needed to use it yet
