    Project LC80

Thanks! Has been a while in the thinking and the doing! Yes I 100% didnt want to drill holes in the body. Doing it through the gull wings I felt OK about. I would have preferred if they were lower profile, some people in Oz make some nice 3d printed wedge shaped ones. But didnt have the...

    Project LC80

Bit of an update: Have completed all the wiring upgrades for the moment. To summarise, have changed from 24v start to 12v with a new starter motor and got rid of the 24v relay. This freed up the RH battery to be used as a house battery. I am using the Delta Vehicles wiring kit for the whole...

I went for this kit, including the onboard air compressor and reservoir. I think it's all Ozzy stuff. Airbag man or Pedders I think. Will have a look at the paperwork. Cant comment on the comfort or reliability yet. Will be off to Portugal end of may for 2 weeks, see how it goes then...

1992 (12V) ABS front sensors - info requested

Do you know what condition the tone rings are in. If they are damaged or corroded etc, the sensor will not work. He worth verifying their condition before buying and fitting more parts. I'm guessing the reason the ABS doesnt kick in after the initial time is because the fault is registered and...

    Project LC80

How do you mean are they worth it? Either I'd have to live with the back suspension essentially being over loaded with the current springs. Or increase the load capacity of the springs, but that would mean it would be terrible unloaded. To me this gives me better flexibility can have just...

Not finding genuine knuckle studs anywhere ?

I bought some of the RT ones a while back, when I was in the exact same situation as you. Not convinced they are the same strength as the OEM ones. Didnt feel confident while I was torquing them down. Keep them to get me out of trouble, but replaced the missing one with OEM. Someone like...

    Saturday afternoon playtime.

You'll have to keep us updated on the FTE and 8HP project. Will be pretty perfect spec with that!

Diesel engines at altitude - 1HZ

How come your not keen to go the turbo route? I can't see how the altitude compensation would do much apart from reduce the fuel in relation to the air density. Cant get past the physics of less air = less to combine with fuel and burn.

    ABS faults C1256, C1252

If you can find a friendly garage who can plug diagnostics in, or even pay for them to do some diagnostics, it might save you time and money identifying what is actually wrong before pulling the trigger on parts. From personal experience the fault codes are not always indicating the actual...

    ABS faults C1256, C1252

What kind of diagnostics tool do you have. If possible I would go into the ABS control area and you should be able to activate all the individual components of the system. That will really help isolate what the issue is. Should be able to pulse the individual solenoids and run the motor. Plus...

    LC80 Sunroof repairs.

Very certain you'll have to take the roof lining down to get the assembly out. Mine does work, but I'm scared it'll get stuck open, so generally leave it closed. Plus the roof rack is above it so dont get much light in and the aircon works very well!

Partsouq or Motors Head Japan will also be able to to source it for you. MHJ I've always found to be a bit cheaper

Best have a look at the parts diagrams for your car and they often can help you see what bits are involved.

    ABS faults C1256, C1252

Have you checked you dont have any brake fluid leaks or wiring issues first? I dont know the specifics of your vehicle but is there not a seperate brake booster pump, or is it all built into the ABS unit?

    6 speed gearbox conversion

In terms of simplicity that is the way to go. Is that a brand new box?
  27. felix2566

    6 speed gearbox conversion

Yes for me having 6th to drop the revs down while on the motorway would be ideal. What you describe would be great, super easy pull away...

    6 speed gearbox conversion

Yes, a modern auto un my eyes is better than a manual. Crawling up a rocky hill will be much easier with the auto. There are decent stand alone management for the 6HP and the like.
  29. felix2566

    6 speed gearbox conversion

Essentially yes, as an Auto will need the mechanical adaptations and the electronic ones to make it all play together. But modern autos are very good and work so well. But to keep it simple using the manual box and its transfer would be the easier of the 2 options. I've not come across the...

    6 speed gearbox conversion

It's all possible what ever route you go. Manual conversion are probably easier as it's mainly just a conversion plate that you'll need to go between the bell housing and the engine, and possibly a custom flywheel. What engine is in the 120?
  31. felix2566

    6 speed gearbox conversion

Have often thought about a 6 speed conversion for the 1HDT. I came across the H152 a while ago and seems a decent compromise and much easier than doing a complete gearbox swap from another manufacturer. But have seen a fair few people putting versions of the ZF 6HP behind them. I have one in...

    Bad juddering after running 60mph

I'd be surprised if the diff needs to be replaced. More likely a rebuild. But I'd imagine there would be noticeable noise and lash in the system if it was that bad.

    oT

Had a look on partsouq and all the available part numbers for ABS sensors I could find were not available any more. You might have to try and find some working second hand ones. Are yours both definitely broken?
  41. felix2566

    Really?

Yes true, few of the fails are things you'd hope would have been picked up before MOT time, rather than relying on it to pick up on what's wrong.
  42. felix2566

    Really?

It does look very tidy and original, who ever gets it will be happy I'm sure. I like the charge cooler set up, nicely made from back in the day.

    75 series horn issues

Glad youve found the problem, loose connector or broken wire. I'd be inspecting each one carefully
  44. felix2566

    75 series horn issues

I think its unlikely, relays normally are reliable. You are getting power at the horn when you press the button but it's not working? Either the horn is faulty or you dont have a good ground. Check that your earth is being made.

@BRE Fabrications LTD off this forum, and based in the UK will make (certainly used to offer) the long range tanks that sit in the middle of the chassis, replacing the original one.

  50. felix2566

    OEM sub tank captive nuts

Yes, that's what I'm not so keen about is the ones that hang down loads at the back, look like they are asking for trouble. Plus a load of weight where it's really not needed all behind the axle.
