As per @Towpack and @Dave if you take it for a regas but ask them to pressure test first then you should know whether to proceed.
My compressor was found to be leaking so I have ordered a Toyota seal kit for it. Once the seals have been replaced I will call the regas guys and get it refilled...
Would like to install a right hand rear gull wing on my HZJ105. I assume these are the same as 100 series rear windows.
Has anyone done this and have a recommendation for a supplier?
Thanks
I remember travelling from Lusaka to Kitwe in Dad’s Fiat 132 which had aircon. We weren’t allowed to open the windows because it was just about to cool the car. After 2 hours of arguing about it in 35 degrees he relented and windows were opened. Clearly the aircon wasn’t working.
I would...
Several electrical issues remain since purchase in Summer 2024:
1. Horn not working ( It did a month ago )
2. Oil Pressure Gauge not working
3. Tachometer not working
In trying to trace the faults, connections seem to be via the drivers footwell kick panel junction box:
As you can see there...
Hello hugh,
Good to have another 60 on board.
Yes the hubs are a common thing.
Not sure if you can get a Terrain Tamer rebuild kit where you are but they are excellent. As you said, make sure surfaces are good where the seals run or you will end up doing the job twice.
Its not too difficult...
Front door outer weatherstrips changed on the 105. Also changed side front wing indicator units. Replaced interior rear view mirror. Had to add a Turbo badge since I had one and the truck has a turbo.
Now the horns are not working and MOT looming. They work from external power, the fuse is ok...
Thanks very much for asking @guruvetim
I have the light but need the plastic bezel thing that it sits in. Mine has one of the studs snapped off. Do you have that piece?
Cheers ben
From both big front and back o ring seals which are in the pack so that’s a good start! Never taken a compressor apart before so it will be a learning experience
When I changed my front seats in the 60 I ordered in the seat brackets from torfab in USA that allowed them to be installed using original floor mounts. Upon these were fitted a new pair of bmw X3 seats that had all manual adjustments and cloth fabric. An excellent upgrade. Still love them 7...
If he is indeed a specialist rather than someone who just sells stuff then he should be able to match the suspension to the weight of the car plus whatever your typical load is. Afaik Ironman are good but it’s the match up which is key. You may ask him if they would also be installing the kit to...
Personally the best parts are Toyota standard parts. Particularly in an engine.
The Aussie Mines have driven a big demand for improved consumable parts such as brakes, oil seals etc but they don’t offer many engine parts so that suggests that standard Toyota engine parts have held up well enough
I today had a leak found on my aircon compressor on the 105 and would like to send it off for a refurb.
Does anyone have any recommendations or experience of suppliers that you could share please.
Cheers, ben
When I had my BJ40 it had drum brakes all round which were surprisingly good. It didn’t have power steering and it was therefore quite difficult in car parks. It was the one thing I would have changed.
Thankfully it also had a heater which was excellent. Some don’t if imported so just check...
If one caliper is sticking on it will pull the car to one side all the time, not just during braking.
As previously mentioned, it is most likely an alignment issue.
Could be tyre pressure but the offending tyre would have to be very low.
I would return it to the garage and get it addressed
The pleasure was all mine Andy. Thanks to my visit to Chateau Lomas I now have a great rear door for the 60 and a whole load of envy for all your sheds, parts and cruisers!
Yes, thought that was a bit weird Dave but apparently it’s standard practice now to fully rotate the car during application ?!?
Or it could be that I still can’t attach photos properly since the upgrade. There is progress though as they have been upside down up to now!
Had a morning visit to Krown in Dudley yesterday. Happy with the result. Time will tell how effective it is. He (rob) recommends coming back in 3 years for a top up.
Sounds like something major - likely broken teeth / bearing.
Faced with that I would find a transmission shop and seek their advice.
If out in the bush in the middle of nowhere would try to remove axles and rear prop and just drive in front wheel drive only for minimum distance to get help...
A typical immobiliser may have a fuse to it and ecuB could be the fuse.
It then arms and disarms of course with a fob or something.
When armed it can lock off the starter motor and potentially activate a fuel cut off solenoid on the fuel pump and flash the flashers to tell you when it arms or...
Ok fair enough Ben, a new car is perhaps less likely to fail. Good that you will be taking a course so you can perform checks and recognise when something is not right etc.
but if something does go wrong it’s what parts are available in the middle of nowhere and the knowledge of the local...
Hi Ben,
When considering such a trip, I’m sure you are aware of the temporary importing and exporting of the vehicle from country to country etc. with some countries requiring a cash deposit of a percentage of the vehicles value up front which is returned when exported to the next country. Not...
