Anybody's old Truck? I might switch to the clean stuff!

Hi all, long time no see :grimacing:, I'm still busy off roading with the diesel 80 but it really is getting ready for some loving mechanically and cosmetically, so I am thinking of laying it up for a while and perhaps even pickup it. So I am looking for a stopgap truck to let me play - Ive...

3rd Row Seats - Any value?

As per title - Do the 3rd row seats (grey leather) have any value on the second hand market? Whilst I am at it - what about the 2nd row? 3rd row in good nick, 2nd row scruffy but not torn There was no response to this post for cloth ones.....

    Amazing light bar

These people that say they wouldn't be able to spend the money if they won the lottery - I would be broke within a month!

    May have an axle problem

As Chris mentions - its fixable but its going to take time and effort to do properly. A second hand unit if you need the truck on the road without downtime - or a good weekend with lots of grinding discs, new metal and a mig welder. Personally I would go second hand to keep running and if...

    Give me your torch recomendations

I bought a Nitecore Tiny Monster 28 about 4 years ago - it is epic. It was also £400. Its also very trick - 6000 lumens for around 45 mins to 2 lumens for over 1,000 hours - s.o.s., strobe and everything in between all controlled by a camera type shutter button. Its used regularly (even car...

    Intercooler yes or no

No - its not fitted with a inter-cooler. Its factory standards 12 valve.

    Intercooler yes or no

I agree and disagree on that comment with equal measure - in performance terms a charge cooler will always outperform an inter-cooler if you can cool the water down properly - unfortunately thats the hard part, the charge cooler adds another inefficiency in addition to the already inefficient...

    Lincomb 30th September - 1st October

haha - nah, I cant see it when I dragging it so no worries! :-) Its the balance between space and convenience at home, I have a big ass caravan that takes up enough space. It only carries the tent and BBQ etc, no weight there, it is handy for the one nighters when I cant be bothered to drag the...

Am I ok to arrive Saturday evening? Is it Caravan Friendly or Tent Only? No Jeep unfortunately - it broke (a lot) at Seven Sisters last weekend!

    Anyone removed their side steps..

I like Gary820 solution for the aesthetics with a purpose, the steps alone are easily damaged off road but do have a surprising amount of protection - when I took mine off, the sills lasted about 2hours before they were trashed and needed replacement. Which turned out to be quite a job - box...

    Starter Motor

Here's a curve ball for you: I once had the starter doing the opposite problem, it wouldnt turn off once activated, it was a corroded spring within the starter relay - quite a simple fix (I even had a random spring on the shelf that fitted!) - so, clean up, new spring and all good again.

    Starter Motor

Guy, what the others have said is good info, the strip down and rebuild is really not that difficult and the rebuild kit is a sensible price. I feel the need to defend our 80's on a point you make. Even relatively speaking the 80 starters are dammed good! Mine is the original unit, started...

Just Enough Essential Parts................. Hes only been out in it twice - came to Seven Sisters with us last year (My 80, A tricked LWB patrol and a Tricked Disco with LC80 Axles) - the pile of bits at the campsite was bigger than his tent! - Funny was an understatement.

Your spot on, the thing can surprise, mainly down to power and relative lightweight. I put 5" suspension kit on for him last year, that cemented thoughts of not wanting one.... just strong enough would be the best I can say

Dodgy oil? This could be expensive.....

Agree Tommy - its on the list, going to be done when the charge cooler gets fitted. I like the Demon Tweaks solid state EGT

Dodgy oil? This could be expensive.....

I would say they increased slightly - my gauge isnt the most expensive but its the same one as previous so at least its a constant. I was driving it a bit harder yesterday now the clutch is bedding in better, 3rd gear, 24psi and 32oorpm for about ½mile up hill saw 350°c

Dodgy oil? This could be expensive.....

Thats a good question - VDO I think - I must admit its fitted a bot too far down stream so I always add a bit - its about 2" below the turbo exhaust flange.
