    Roof Tents amd Awnings

The tuff treck stuff has come on a long way, the H2 is really a copy of the foxwing, pretty much made from the same stuff, but compare the prices! http://www.tuff-trek.com/awning-systems.html

Not really, nearest I can get reliable 3g is about 100M from the house, we're at the bottom of a valley surrounded by trees. on the plus side, I use PAYG mobile, I've only put £40 on it in the last 3 years, and I still have £18 credit  I did think about putting a large mast up, maybe one...

    Current off road navigation thinking?

I use a Nexus 10 with a rubberized case cover, suction cup mount on the windscreen with the bottom of the Nexus hard up against the top of the dash, the bottom of the nexus just covers the clock to give some idea of placement. Currently running memory map +the £15 3rd party map licence, still in...

Possibly, we can't get a reliable mobile signal at the house, we can't get a TV picture either, so we need a hardline, 20MB is the most we can get on the poor infrastucture as we're out in the boonies. Wife spends half her life on the phone at no extra cost. If there's a cheaper hardline...

    Best tool ever?

When I was a young engineer my favorite tool was very similar, we used to call them "footprints" I could never find a pair when I wanted one yrs later, so I asked an old plumber mate of mine what the best alternative was, they're pump pliers as rich says but mine will be forever called...

I fort you were a walking encylopedia and knew every UK truck running Chris ;) think the long nose came out 93-4 so mines still got the shorty, I only know that after having crawled under silver pheonix (long nose) then hearing Trev call anyone with a clue when my new tbox looked different, we...

does the short nose tbox have a viscous coupling? I may have got the wrong end of the stick but I thought the advantage of the longnose was the VC, but every days a school day for me on these trucks :)

    Best tool ever?

I like the sound of that probe doofah, much easier than a long bit of wire with a croc clip and a multimeter! Best tool in my box now is a debit card :eusa-shhh:

Not that simple mate, it'll be touch n go getting the truck to Trevs (where the new box is) judging from the noise it made coming back last week so I daren't risk driving it unless it's to get the new tbox fitted (with trev on standby to tow me if needed), we think the actuator siezed half in or...

    A robbery in China

    Long term water storage

sounds about right, I've always used 1 teaspoon to 10 gallons - that's regular domestic bleach with 5% Sodium Hypochlorite, there are different concentrations depending on brand so it's worth checking. We use black 25l stackable food grade plastic drums, works out at 2.5ml per drum, you can get...

    Long term water storage

chlorinated tap water is good for 6 months in food grade plastic if stored in cool dark place, for longer than 6 months just rotate it. I'd avoid stainless, can't use chlorine.
