    Hi and thanks

Welcome Gavin and congratulations on the 80 purchase. Lincomb is a club meet that is well worth attending if you can; its the biggest gathering of 80 series Land Cruisers in the U.K. (all Land Cruisers are welcome and many other series examples will be present, but 80s are usually the most...

    Overland show 2017

Puts me off exhibiting a vehicle again if you're captive until 16:00, people do have other commitments. Blocking the end exit gate seems a silly idea, this will force people to seek another exit, if people have driven to that exit then let them leave; containing people only leads to...

    Overland show 2017

Great to catch up with everyone today, many enjoyable conversations as always; the sun even made a welcome appearance in the afternoon. Show was ok as well! Enjoy the rest of the weekend campers.

Was always going to happen, they have a clipboard with your picture on it, and instructions to disrupt this mans weekend! They're away now discussing what infringement they can pull you up on next.

    Overland show 2017

It's shaping up to be a great weekend weather wise, perfect for a spot of camping, and ideal for sitting back with a cold beverage and watching the show evolve! Hope to see you guys tomorrow.

    Overland show 2017

I'm hoping to make Saturday as well, not sure if I'll have the truck with me, doesn't seem much point in day visiting with it to leave it in the car park.

    Which fridge freezer?

I have the Iron Man cube in the 105 that was in Oz. When we arrived in Oz we were very kindly given a large quantity of good quality meat, so we ran the smaller compartment as a freezer and the larger one as a fridge. I can confirm that this fridge/freezer does have seperate temperature controls...

    My new overland project

Thanks for the reply Olazz, I'm not in the market, I was just wondering what you plans would be for the 80 after you've gone to such lengths to modify and adapter her to suit your overlanding requirements; you must have many great memories with the 80 as well. All the best with the new...

    My new overland project

Impressive! You should have plenty of space to make a great camper on that platform. The Abentuer & Allrad show is a wonderland for an overlander. I'd love to follow your build on here. What's the future for your 80? Staying in the fleet or is it off to new adventures with a new owner?
  10. Scott

Well I certainly wasn't expecting that!

Frustrating, but I have every faith that you'll turn this situation to your advantage. Best of luck.

    105 FSM

Rob, thank you very much indeed for your help.
  12. Scott

    105 FSM

Agreed, they shouldn't be far off. Once I've stripped the 105 axle I'll see what differences Mr T has made to the design.
  13. Scott

    105 FSM

Thanks for the reply Dave. Getting the parts was no problem, Simon got them no problem. Agreed it should almost be identical to an 80 axle, but the hub is definitely different as an 80 takes a six stud wheel, the 105 has a 5 stud. I have the 105 parts and an 80 FSM so I shouldn't be too far...

    Couple of questions

    1) I'd explore the possibility of installing a trans cooler from a petrol 80, if you feel the need for an additional one. The petrols had a separate one as standard; Gary posted a pic of his a while back, a bit of searching may unearth it. There are also threads on here discussing the hot topic...

    105 FSM

Does anyone know where I can find, or have a download of, the 105 series Factory Service Manual? I need to replace a front inner axle oil seal, so I'm after the torque figures. I have an 80 series FSM and would think they would be very similar, if not the same, but I'd like FSM to confirm.

Stuggling with EU breakdown cover for 20 year old Cruiser

I had AA multi trip EU breakdown cover for 6 years, and had to claim once when the spot welds on the Discovery's timing gear failed and took the cam belt out on the autoroute at high speed; this resulted in repatriation the following day. The AA were brilliant, the local garage that has the...

    ABS

Remove the sensors and clean them would be my advice based on previous experience. I'd start with the front. Easy job.

Shake up in the insurance biz?

3rd party is sometimes more expensive as the insurance company may take the view that you don't care about the vehicle that you are driving, and therefore are at greater risk of crashing it.

Shake up in the insurance biz?

Re Heritage I had a chat with them at renewal time and they seemed ok, however their policies have some down sides. No claims bonus is not acknowledged by some of their polices, so if you have any on the policy when activated, and you stay with them for 2 years your previously earned NCB will...

Shake up in the insurance biz?

Dealing with insurance companies can be frustrating if you ask them to consider covering anything that isn't familiar to them, they want easy simple, low risk customers. Or looking at it another way, is this another step to limit vehicle modification? Have you tried Heritage?

    Looking for an 80

I know that feeling, but it lives on as a great example of an 80 series. Hope Guy gets as much enjoyment from the ownership experience as we did.

    Looking for an 80

I'll send you a PM with some of its history from my ownership. I had BFG ATs on her for one of her trips, they were fitted to a set of white OZ Racing alloys, with a white roof tent she looked amazing. What size ATs are you going for?

    Looking for an 80

Congratulations! You have indeed bought a great example of the might 80 series Land Cruiser, I should know I used to own it. I hope you enjoy the ownership experience as much as I did.

These Really Useful Boxes are strong and durable, I have used them for touring with no issues. B&Q sell some of the range, Staples used to as well; not a great help to you in France, but they maybe sold by similar outlets...

Howdy to all reliable vehicle fans!

Having seen in another thread that you are favouring the 100 series here's a few things to look out for: Steering colum motors fail. AHC suspension can fail and give a terrible ride Corrosion has been seen in both top and bottom tailgates, examine the frame work closely. Corrosion in the front...

FOR SALE: 4x 285/75R16 BFG KM2 Mud terrain tyres on OEM Toyota steel wheels. Ever wanted more legroom your 80?

Good work Chris, I always felt too close to the windscreen in the 80; I put it down to there being three rows of forward facings seats, plus the Japs aren't known for their long legs. Even the 105 could still do with more legroom.

    Pyrenees Trip August 12th t 28th August 2017

I've used these guides books https://www.mdmot.de/en/pyrenees-offroad.html and have found them very good and excellent value. I bought them 7/8 years ago when only the German versions were available, so I had to do some translation work, but they have English versions now. The GPS disc was spot on.
