Does anyone want to go shares on a BJ73?

There's a BJ73, VM powered, might be up sale. I know the engine... I rebuilt it. It's as good a 4 cyl VM as you'll ever find. Runs like a dream. It's rust free. I could do with the tub, doors and roof... That leaves all running gear (rare low ratio axles), gearbox, wheels etc and everything...

    Newbie-Salvage question

Depends on how far down the restoration road you want to go. Rust on the chassis is the killer. In particular anywhere close to front most and rear most leaf spring shackle mounts and tub attachment points. On tub check for rust near chassis mount points and sills underneath door pillars. My...

    Rev Counter not working

what model do you have. BJ73 are infamous for getting damaged when gearbox is dropped out or engine changed. iirc the cable enters the bell housing on the top near side sort of under and to the left of the brake master cylinder/servo. It's tucked right back under the bulkhead tunnel. I've...

    More (effing) boat electrics. Help!

Not a high stakes problem but its got me stumped. 12V DC 12v fused (3A) from engine battery (on constant trickle charge from pv cell) showing 12.9V Live to bilge pump via float switch (tested several times) working fine. Earthed direct back to battery for the moment. Bilge pump when...

    Importing non-EU 78

    Importing non-EU 78

Hi Bud. Dont need to get it re-motd after registration. MOT on Irish plates still valid once it's re-registered. Just double check MOT station gets the chassis number correct when it's MOT'd on Irish plates. As long as the chassis number on the old MOT matches the new V5 then you're good to go.

I bought a set of Falken Landair AT tyres, 31-10.50-15 in Feb 2018. I've driven to Ibiza and back on them and three years as my daily drive. They've worn astonishingly well. Theres probably 4 or 5 mm left on the worst worn one. They dont make the identical tyre still but if I can find a set...

If you're doing cylinder head gaskets feel free to ask. I've stripped the top ends off these engines more times than most. Like everything, once you've got the sequence down it's fast and pretty easy. Beware though, the gaskets come as either four single fibre gaskets, so, in theory you can...

LJ 70 turbo diesel With 200k Miles

Looks nice. Only advice I can offer having bought 3 trucks from Spain is the ITV isnt worth the paper its written on in terms of an MOT. Wheel bearings, king pins, hubs in general, brakes... all can be in poor repair and still have a ticket. Give everything a good twist/rock/yank if you can.
