    The corona virus thread

Its an effective way of enforcing the law, same as in any country, and certainly works to stop the idiots we see elsewhere ignoring the restrictions. Not sure where you get you information from regarding people not getting permits, people without them are very much in a minority. France also...

    The corona virus thread

So far morocco has 4000 cases, 200 deaths, how's Spain doing? or the UK,USA etc. Morocco's decisive implementation of travel restrictions and enforcement of them is doing better that the more relaxed approach in the UK. Along with travel restrictions etc implemented early they safe guarded a...

    The corona virus thread

No, its exactly the same for everyone here with the state of emergency. After 20+ years here I've got a lot of local friends, none of them have had any problems getting permits. Things were different under the old King but the current one has done a lot to reduce corruption and improve things...

    The corona virus thread

It was in this thread, and I posted that people are being arrested for breaching the restrictions. Travel permits are issued free so no payment, legitimate or backhander, are needed. You just see the senior official in the town with your passport or ID and he signs and issues the permit needed...

    Absolutely Gutted In Morocco

A small price to pay for a decent fire system Higgy, £300 is nothing when people talk about putting £1000 lithium batteries into overland builds. No need for one in date for motorsport use either and a hunt around various race part groups will land you an out of date set up for half the price as...

    Absolutely Gutted In Morocco

Also worth noting that the failure with the bonnet release would have happened with a new cable or and old one, its a design issue that caused the failure, where the plastic sheath melts and stops the cable operating. Its a common issue with all vehicle engine fires and well documented by fire...

    Absolutely Gutted In Morocco

Somehow with all this virus stuff I had missed Chris' report on the Expedition Portal,I believe the article was also in a Christmas edition of the Overland Journal as well. Early last year Chris contacted me about a film he was planning to make about this trip and asked if I could run as a...

    The corona virus thread

Now 4.5 weeks into lockdown in Morocco. The state of emergency has been extended until the 20th May so we are about half way through. Weathers great with a steady 23 degrees and constant sunshine, we can go to the beach and walk along the coast without restriction. Fantastic group of people...

Low roof bars for 120 series?

Low roof bars for 120 series?

Easy to do a DIY, I found some 90degree angles to mount my frontrunner rack to the roof rails after Frontrunner EU refused to sell me the mountings on their own. The 1820 aluminium extrusion works well as a diy option

Maybe a question that can not be answered

Ignoring the people still under taking non essential travel, there are lots of people still on their trips, some wanting to get home, some waiting it out. At the moment I'm aware of 3 forums members in that situation and the Overlanding Association has 100's or 1000's of members in the same...

LFD Off Road - Ruggedized Crossbar Lexus GX470 - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club] Lexus GX 470 Modular Factory Rail Support System - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club] 2 of the US offerings, they really do have some fantastic kit available compared to the poor showing from UK sources

Roof mounted Camping Lights - Wiring/Connection suggestions.

You can just run the cable up underneath the edge trim either side of the windscreen and onto the roof rack. A CB aerial cable will fit so plenty big enough to run cables for lighting

Low roof bars for 120 series?

They use either the OEM Toyota/Lexus roof bars (now discontinued possibly) or 1820 aluminium extrusion. There is also some US companies that make crossbars that fit flush to the roof rails. The standard roof rails do have a slight curve in them but you can slide bolts into them if you remove...

    Toyota's weak point?

It's a common failure on rally trucks or any thing doing fast off-road with jumps. You can get lots of reinforcement parts for the 120 but not seen any for the 90. Although it's a weakness if driven hard normal off road driving isn't a problem. My 90 had reached 240000miles before a mechanic...

    Wonky springs - please advise!

Which springs did you use? Iron-man springs come in a range of weight load option, normal, upto 300kg constant load and a 300kg+ constant load. As a guess I think the springs are too soft for the weight causing them to bow like that

Have a look at the US based GXOR group for info. The 150 is sold as a lexus in the states and has a mass e following. The states doesn't get the diesel engine but it'll give you an idea of how capable the platform is. The 150 is present in huge numbers in North Africa as well

    Technical Benefits of a Snorkel

I've never seen the need, unless your a spending a lot of time in dusty conditions behind other vehicles. When I'm out in the desert the filter gets blown out if its been bad, I very rarely get a lot of dust build up, but I'm normally the lead vehicle if in a group.

    LC3 no start

yes both connected will work to check. I've had batteries on the way out charge up fine and show a good voltage at rest but drop on cranking before. If it drops below 10V then you could repeat the process with 1 battery disconnected to isolate if its both or just one bad battery. I'd be...

Had you disconnected the battery or window switches prior to them stopping working? Do any of the switches operate the windows now? Indeed I have, I'd been visiting for 12 years before the landcruiser came along.. In fact it was that which pushed me into Overlanding. It's an amazing country that needs a lot of time to properly explore, 2 weeks, 2 months etc and you've barely scratched the surface of what it has to offer...
