    Steering rack rod ends play

Found a photo of the plastic bush removal from a Russian site. Don't know Russian but it looks like you just press the lock tab to remove the plastic bush.

I actually found the part for the collar. And there is a plastic bush for it as well. The collar sides into the bush, but the bush is not visible below. This is looking from the end of the shaft. I am not sure how to remove the collar and the bush. Do I just slowly tap the collar out with a...

    Steering rack rod ends play

Updates - i have managed to do the oil plastic bottle shim on the white plastic half "ball" mod in Timmy video. But my steering play is still there although it is reduced. Checking around after installing the steering rack back, it turns out that the bushing/bearing circled in white below...

Grinding noise / feel full lock reverse

Not sure if it will be your problem, but mine did it in full lock forward last time, and I grease the steel stoppers on both sides - see blue circle below. This is looking towards the front of the car at the driver side tie rod. Its a metal to metal stops at full lock - there is another metal...

Timmy’s mate Toyota is a 3rd Gen 4runner, which is the SURF as we know it, and it shares the same chassis and almost all parts with the Colorado/Prado 90. I have been watching Timmy’s videos on repairs for most of my Prado. Apart from the fact that his is a Left hand drive and with the 3.4L 5VZ...

    Steering rack rod ends play

Upon further inspection, I think the play I had in my steering systems comes from the steering column section inside the car below the steering wheel. There is so call a telescopic collapsible part of the column, which in an accident will collapse to shorten the column so the wheel dont impact...

A silly question, FRONT propshaft phasing

Cheers. It's actually full time 4wd. So if front prop is removed, do I need to lock it in H4? I have swapped tyres front and back the vibration is still the same. And tyres just balanced few months ago. New tie rod ends and new bushes for steering arm too (well last summer). So I am inclined to...

A silly question, FRONT propshaft phasing

That's my thought too. Well I have tried to rotate the end yoke by 90 degree and test drive to about 60mph. The steering shakes like when your tyres are not balanced. I did both clockwise and counter. Not sure what's going on by the previous owner, but I can see those marker writing on the...

A silly question, FRONT propshaft phasing

Hi all, I just want to confirm this, what should the FRONT propshaft of the 90 series be in - I believe its IN-PHASE, or aligned. I have been driving mine for a few years now and not UNTIL I replaced one of the front UJs - I noticed that mine is out of Phase. Like the second shaft below...

    Rear Hub Axle Oil Seals

Hi Stuzbot, not sure where you are at this job. Just watched a youtube video from The Car Care Nuts (which some of you would know I supposed as his Toyota knowledge is second to none): Part of the video is for the inner seal replacement. He didn't remove the abs sensor. If you are doing...

    Steering rack rod ends play

Thanks. Yes l adjusted the big nut by tightening it a fraction. This "push" the rack closer to the pinion. But it still has play. If I tighten more the steering wheel won't return itself after turn. If you dont mind finding the brand you bought, it will be appreciated. At least as a reference...

Hi I have play in my tie rod ends area when rocking the driver side wheel in 3-9 o'clock direction. Like how you check wheel bearing. Not a huge amount but enough to notice. SO I replaced both the inner and outer tie rods, kind of help a bit but there is still play. I can see the inner tie rod...

Seeking Advice on KZJ70 (1KZ-TE) Head Replacement: Should I Stick With It?

The KZ-TE is a robust and strong engine comparing to other manufacturers - in Toyota world, it's not on top of the list as you have other far more legendary diesel like the 1HDT or 1HZ.
