    Krown rusproofing - discount available?

Just booked a top up with Rob for December, and he said as I'd been before he'd do 10% off. Think it will come to £170odd for full underside and inside chassis rails. I had mine done winter of 2017/18 originally. My chassis is still fine, and you can see residue alive under the dust, but the...

    AGM killer

Thanks yeah, I've actually tried to desulfate it several times on my 8-stage smart wall charger, but no luck. I'm hoping with a thermal wrap the AGM might go a little longer. Is that info sheet manufacturers covering their arses, or based on your experience chap? Thanks Owen

    AGM killer

There's not a huge amount of space, though I was considering a thermal battery wrap of some sort, just to try and keep the heat out. Not sure how effective they are though. Owen

    AGM killer

Thanks Lorin, that's great to know. My fear was AGM don't like over 40C and some people have measured engine bay temps more than 70C+ in the summer from what I've heard. Good to know yours works fine. What brand do you use out of interest? Do you use an insulating guard or anything? Best Owen

    AGM killer

Hi all Currently have a 110aH flooded Numax leisure battery connected to my starter with a Durite split charge relay. Installed it 3 years ago and it's been okay, but not great. Within a couple of years the battery couldn't power the fridge through the second day, and now only reads 12.3v...

Gauging interest: 33x12.5 (x5) Toyo Open Country MTs

Yeah they're a bloody tough tyre, super strong sidewalls. I don't think my little Hilux was even scraping the surface of what they're capable of! Owen

Hi all Likely for sale next week - five 33"x12.5"R15 Toyo Open Country MTs in excellent condition with loads of tread left. They're less than 2 years old with low mileage on them, I can measure the depth of tread on each next week if anyone's interested. I've always kept them regularly...

    The people have spoken

'Will of the people.' Let's discuss this for a minute, in looking for a majority. 52% of the people voted to leave, but in a variety of different guises. There certainly weren't 17.4m people who wanted no deal. Likewise there wasn't 17.4m backing a customs union exit, or a soft Brexit, or...

1994 Hilux Surf 'Sasquatch' - few pics

Thanks Clive, hello Nick. Yeah I've done a fair bit of off roading, mainly in Australia, the Alps and Spain, but Portugal is right up there I reckon, unbelievable tracks and a very relaxed attitude by the authorities who are more than happy for you to go explore (unlike Germany!) I have used...

Yeah you'd be surprised how uncommon 80x60 box is. I must have tried a dozen suppliers. A place over in London thought he'd found an off cut but it turned out to be 75x50, so he offered to fab it instead. Owen

You pair of legends! Just the response I was hoping to get. Please thank your metallurgist buddy too. It's a sub bumper I'm knocking up for a higher-mount winch bumper to attach to. Cheers again guys. Owen

    What's stronger...

An 80 x 50 box section with a 4mm wall thickness, or an 80 x 50 box section fabricated from four plates of 6mm? Should add, wouldn't be me welding it but a firm who have professional fabricators... Thoughts? Owen

    Website experts

Useful advice chaps, cheers. So I think I'd be looking at an off-the-shelf calendar function, and an off-the-shelf payment function. In addition, do you know if it would relatively easy to build a site where: - Users can sign up as a member - Create a brief profile of themselves (name...

Cheers mate, have sent you a message. Does anyone know whether the concept of users signing up to a site, having their own visible calendar, and being able to book a slot in another user's calendar would be a pain to sort out? Owen

Hi all Probably going to be too big for the Hilux but I'm keen to try a set just to see. I'd rather not spend £500+ buying a set only to find they don't fit, I don't suppose (for some beer tokens!) anyone in the south west of England has an old set kicking about they wouldn't mind me borrowing...

    The people have spoken

In my opinion a great deal of the toxic and divisive atmosphere that's raised its ugly head in the aftermath of the referendum could have been avoided by leave voters being gracious winners and not aggressively rubbing people's noses in it. A little more respect shown when half the population...

1994 Hilux Surf 'Sasquatch' - few pics

Haha thanks chap! I'll definitely take that as a compliment! Edit: It reminds me of a quote a friend of a friend said: "That truck is borderline special forces issue." Considering he used to be SBS and would helicopter drop at night into the Colombian jungle in teams of 6 to neutralise Pablo...

1994 Hilux Surf 'Sasquatch' - few pics

The only time we needed to winch was heading up a very steep, off-cambered track back up from one beach, with a 4ft deep washout across it, leaving a very precarious axle-twister going up to the right about the same height as the bonnet. I had to get my mate to jump on the front left corner to...

1994 Hilux Surf 'Sasquatch' - few pics

Thanks fellas, yeah had a great time, and really pleased with how the truck handled the tracks in the Serra de Monchique mountain range and on the more extreme west coast tracks - first gear low and it monstered everything! Some very loose, steep, rocky climbs, and it just crawled up with no...
