Only for flippers: the FJ60 had a 4-speed H42 gearbox, the 5-speed gearbox combined with a petrol engine arrived in 1985 with the FJ62, but the gearbox was the H151F, with a very different ratio in comparison with the H55F used on diesel engines.

The 5 Speed H55F gearbox was introduced in HJ60 my 1983 even with the naturally aspirated Diesel engine 2H. If this 1982 Cruiser has a 12H-T it's swap, but a desiderable one?

Hello, if the Cruiser is an 1982 one and mounts a diesel engine, then it is a HJ60 and the engine is a 2H. The 12H-T turbodiesel engine was first introduced in 1986 with the HJ60 Turbo, which soon became HJ61. The most obvious difference between the HJ60 Turbo and the HJ61 consists of...

    Cordless Angle Grinder.

I own a Milwaukee too, and I'm really happy with it. I switched to cordless recently and I'm really satisfied with both power and battery life. Mine is an M18 series, 5Ah battery. One could opt for the more powerful M28 series, but I didn't miss a job so far (grinding after welding, removing...

Who is doing what maintenance today?

A little warning for those who decide to change the buffers between fender and hood. I bought two different sets, both unoriginal and I threw money because the size and shape do not match. Eventually I found them original: they cost as those reproduced, but they are perfect. You don't always...

Finally, this is done: the right rear wheel well is finished. It's not beautiful, but it is solid and will be fine for a few years.

What blast media to use ?

Probably the best solution is glass microspheres with a diameter of 040-070 microns or 070-110 microns. They are effective in the removal of rust even if not rub off the underlying material; also they don't leave harmful deposits and are removed from the cavities by simple compressed air. On...

Who is doing what maintenance today?

Wind, snow, gravity, the universe is next to you and tries to make your day cheerful and lively. What can you wish for more from the forces of nature? How to give thanks to the gods for such benevolence?

Who is doing what maintenance today?

Oh well, I wanted to boast ... In reality the situation is not so dramatic. That's the consequence of a rough road maintenance: nobody spills the salt on the roads in winter and then, if the car owner keeps it under cover, a 30 years old car can develop little rust . The cruiser has 197,000 km...

A better driving position - Seat risers

Hello Peter, thanks for the tip. At the moment I'm busy with work, but I hope to complete the supports for the seats in the next weekend. I had also thought of replacing the seats, but I like too much the vintage look, so I'm working on a solution that will enable me to sit higher up keeping the...

A better driving position - Seat risers

Small update: I welded the front risers, cold galvanized and gave epoxy primer and basic primer. Because I have to paint the wheel arches, I'll paint the risers the same color as the body. Not a masterpiece, but something useful.

A better driving position - Seat risers

In an attempt to improve the driving position of my 1983 BJ42 I'm building the risers to lift both the front seats about 5 centimeters. I bought two angle irons 43,5x8x4,8 cm, two angle irons 43,5x5x4,8 cm and a 5 cm edge square tube, all 2 millimeters thick. I had two sheets bent at 90° and two...

    Help needed - Mysterious part

I know, I know, I should have waited before writing, but hands are faster than brain. I just posted when I tried to follow the path of the tubes that initially seemed invisible. Then I checked the function of the sensor on the wiring diagram and thus has clarified everything.

    Help needed - Mysterious part

Hello 40 series fans; after a long chase I finally bought a Land Cruiser BJ42 and am trying to figure out how much rust is under the bodywork. Came halfway down the left side member I found this barrel: two tubes on the left side and a sensor on the right side; on the bottom there is a purge...
