    90 series battery tray

My original 95 only had one battery - my current has two and came with plastic lined battery trays. Part number 74431 in the above link looks more like the plastic tray that sits on top of the battery shelf not the steel shelf itself? Regards Bill

    Thinking of Selling up.

Ian Good evening Yes mine was a 2001 model. Funnily enough I had hardly any rust although most others I saw had some in the normal places. My current 95 has a rear diff lock - which is basically an electric motor. The ML's low/high is also an electric motor - sorry I just don't trust either of...

EGR removal/blanking on 3.0 TD series

Good write up and a picture tell a thousand words - if you have a manual, you have an additional issue with the clutch fluid reservoir - I removed mine which means disconnecting the pin inside the vehicle in the footwell area. Very difficult to get access with it in place and the danger of...

    Thinking of Selling up.

Just reading this thread now. My viewpoint. I have a 95 with 417,000 miles on her, she started to use water, still ran perfectly but would empty the reservoir bottle on a long trip. Ran it like that for 3 months!! Really hadn't the time as it was either a head gasket or the head, so I took her...

    fuel pipe size on lc90

Tony My own view is that there is no problem going 1 mm or more extra but I would not like to go 1 mm below original in the feed hose - its a long way from tank to filter etc so the less resistance the better. By pure co-incidence I priced the Fuel supply pipe from Mt T during the week as mine...

    Spare wheel location

Thanks Shayne Indeed I see 4x4 with up to three bicycles mounted on the rear and protruding more than a spare wheel would. Going slightly off topic here I am still in the planning stage - one option I am looking at it is a steel rear bumper , slightly larger/protruding than the existing which...

    Spare wheel location

Good afternoon As a update on this thread - only two days ago, I borrowed a larger tyre fitted on a 16" wheel - 285x75x16 - which is more or less the size I will be going for once I have done the small body lift. Yes, I have to state that it does start to impair my vision whereas I was quite...

    Spare wheel location

Priffe Thank you for your views. My Landcruiser is a 95 model not an 80. Frankly if doing an overland expedition, which I will be - I am not very interested in what something looks like - practicality is way more important to me. I have already explained, in my mails above, my thinking and...

We tend to forget - cars nowadays are built by robots, they have a short life span and they are not designed to be taken apart by humans and repaired:) Regards Bill

Dont try buy a hundie in Ireland

Yes They are a bit too expensive at that price - however don't forget that they cost well over €100K when new !! Just buy in UK - sterling is cheaper, better choice and import as crew cab or commercial. Regards Bill

    Spare wheel location

Appreciate your input I have already tried the wheel on the bonnet as stated in my previous - I am not losing much vision at all, but that is with a standard wheel. I will be doing a 20-30mm body lift and fitting larger diameter tyres so not sure how much of an effect they will have as a spare...

    Spare wheel location

Bob Good evening and thanks for input No mine is a bog standard non intercooled 1997 model. I have stated above that I want the rear door space for other ideas regarding my camping equipment so this is why I am looking at moving the wheel somewhere else. I intend to fit a roof tent of some sort...

    Spare wheel location

Dave Thanks for you input. I had a LR high capacity pick up many years ago on a big construction job and got the wheel retro fitted to the bonnet as we needed the load space. The bonnet was not altered other than fitting of the spare wheel mount. The LR went everywhere and even places it...

    Spare wheel location

Thanks Clive I would be putting a backing /strengthening plate on both sides of the bonnet skin and then mounting the wheel holder to that and as you have mentioned some sort of pad strip under the contact points. Dont worry - everything will be well road tested before I head away.:) Just...

No, it does not obstruct the view and actually obstructs much less than a land rover bonnet mounted wheel does.

    Spare wheel location

There is nothing wrong with the rear door location as is. However I may decide to take two spare wheels and even if I only take one, I want to move the wheel to the bonnet as the back door is more useful for camping gear etc that is used daily

    Spare wheel location

Afternoon Just working on ideas for fitting out my proposed overland vehicle. Just interested to know if anybody has fitted a spare wheel to the bonnet - as was common on the Land Rovers. Looking at the spare wheel holder it would not be difficult to modify it. I have yet to see one in any...

    Newbie from Western Europe!!

Clive Thank you for the comments and advice on wheel sizes. Regarding oils etc - For years I have had a policy of using the best quality available and I had zero leaks in my older 90, although I do see a small wet spot now on my current one. I have decided to put up about 10-15,000 miles first...

Good evening all Thank you very much for the warm welcome - much appreciated. Ok, driving style: I have been driving diesel cars for over 30 years now - back then diesels were not popular. I actually converted quite a few petrol cars to diesel in may day. They were mostly Renault 25 V6...
