    Accelerator pedal issue

Thanks Rodger, The bolts you see are threaded through a kind of sandwich. Bolt head and metal on one side, rubber/sponge liner in the middle, and what feels like a metal plate and nuts on the other. It is not actually fixed to the bulkhead for some reason. Not rusty either. Good idea on the...

    Accelerator pedal issue

Hi all, Accelerator pedal stopper (marked red in photo)- is this just an optional limiter or does it serve some other purpose? I did not know I had one on the car till the other day, took it off and left it in the last town, so hoping it was just optional. Car way more powerful without it. The...

    a roof tent story

Thanks all. Very helpful. Got the roofrack modified yestetday by a local guy that builds roofracks-from a basket to flat and lengthened to 210cm This leaves me 125cm of of rack behind the spare. So just enough to fit a tent. The equivalent of 45 quid very well spent.

    a roof tent story

Nice pics. I noticed no one has a rooftop tent and spare wheel on their roofrack. Is it even possible length wise or just too much weight high up? I have a 105. I currently have my spare on the roof —as the swing away damaged the rear wing and I have a lpg tank underneath. I would like a...

Swing out wheel carrier damage- what did I do wrong?

Thanks all. That makes a lot of sense. Shall leave it off I think then. Shayne- the latch it locks onto broke a few times, so there definitely moments when it did swing free momentarily while driving which cannot have helped. JibberJabber- it is a 105 with barn doors- just realised I posted...

Swing out wheel carrier damage- what did I do wrong?

Hi all, Some advice please. I had to remove the spare wheel carrier as it had done some damage to the C pillar. Which is why there is a dodgy replacement tail light- as the old one fell out with the movement of the carrier. Can anyone see from the photos please what I did wrong support wise...

Thanks Nick. Yes, 40 minutes outside Cusco. If we are around when you are here you are all welcome to stay. I am jealous- we always get somewhere and have to turn around and drive back. How old will your kids be- and how much time will you have for Peru? Then I can give you some suggestions...

Hi- need some advice miles vs price please

Sorry for the delay, been too busy driving everywhere and enjoying the car. After an amazing weekend in the dunes ( photo is of two of the other cars in the party following , just to give an idea of the scale of the place) before we the 1000km back home went beautifully. Then this weekend we...

Hi- need some advice miles vs price please

I bought the 105. There was just something about it. The Troopy although it did look mint, I just did not trust the dealers selling it. Whereas the 105 owner came across as a top trustworthy person and I have mates that vouched for him. Makes a difference. Plus the 105 was vastly more...

Very useful thread, looking forward to seeing more. Clever use of the fridge to stop tired kids fighting with each other! What is the sleeping plan if you are taking off the roof top tent? Ground tent?

Hi- need some advice miles vs price please

Thanks. The diesel Troopy just sold so one less to worry about. Yes the 80 ad is very much like the message I got from the 60 owner, very Arthur Daley. Just found this video of the actual 105 that is for sale climbing a huge sand dune. Spoke to the owner last night, he clearly loves his car, a...

Hi- need some advice miles vs price please

Thank you both. Climate- we have everything. Where I am is very dry due to altitude. Where the cars are is on the coast , but if you are not parking it right by the sea rust is really not bad, as the whole coast of Peru is basically desert so hardly any rain. Other parts you have jungle and...

Hi- need some advice miles vs price please

Hi there, I am English but live in Peru, - looking for a Land Cruiser to use as a daily drive ( 25km each way) and for bigger overland trips to explore more of the continent, three of us, myself and my two daughters. Need something with power for the hills as altitude is a factor- live at 3000...
