Shouldn’t make any difference, assume you just tapped the fog wire at the back? Disconnect it- MoT-reconnect…
So are you fogs now always on with your headlights? I’d start by checking the switch.
I’ve worked out how to get the parts lists up on Amayama.com
https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/toyota/land_cruiser. Then just select your market and model
Yes I looked at doing it with the Katakana logo but all these models came out with the basic Toyota script badge. But could do either depending on what people would like
Hello, I’ve just bought a BJ42 with the help of @Rodger who is definitely a font of knowledge of these trucks. I have been hunting around for what parts suppliers and info resources are available for me for the future. I found a guy in Australia selling a complete set of manuals as pdf download...
Set of 5 16” wheels wanted to suit 6 stud and take 235 tyres. Zero or negative offset.
Show me what you’ve got please or any ideas of what might work from elsewhere.
Thanks
Agree with Lorin. If you think the canvas itself leaks then ask for an offcut and set it up with a ‘puddle’ in it and see if it drips through. Then coat it with Fabsil and repeat. But I would also say if the fabric itself is leaking then they should replace it. Trouble is even if they give you a...
I also see one (or more) zips is letting it in. Did they fit any type of cover /deflector over the zips or are they exposed on the outside? There would normally be a piece of fabric over the top of a standard zip (or behind it) to deflect the rain. (Think tent or even rain jacket).
Hi Gary,
Really sorry to hear this, it looked like they’d done a great job. My mesh is outside as are many roof tents etc so I don’t think this is an issue. I would start by sealing all the seams with seam tape if they are not already and then applying Grangers Fabsil over the entire canvas...
No experience with a 120 but mounted to back of centre console in my FJ. I can usually work a bracket onto a seat base in most vehicles. But now I use the Fire Safety Sticks. Much easier to place, more effective, longer run time and no residue to deal with.
I Found one! A 1980 BJ42 Got to sort out getting it to me etc .
My thanks to all who added advice here but especially to Jon for letting me drive his and to Rodger, whom I am sure I have bored stupid with sending him ads to comment on; his knowledge has been invaluable and his patience with me...
I use an EarthPak from Amazon, technically it’s a backpack but it works great and it is 100% water and rot proof as made from lorry tarp type fabric...
Welcome. Regarding doing some off-road trails keep an eye open for club meets/weekends as we’d be happy to have you along and look after you and your Cruiser
Pete at HazFabs would make you one, his racks are excellent. Check out Hazfabs on Facebook.
I had a rack off an Jap import 80 seriws on mine, had to bend thw brackets a little to fit, otherwise perfect
Short answer… No…
That’s why we drive Toyotas :0). I’ve owned an old 90 and driven many Land Rovers and Discoveries and no you’ll not find any backlash, clunking, oil leaking or any other well known Solihull vehicle ‘characteristics’. Nor will you be changing wheel bearings every 15k miles...
Yes I would agree that looks like a middle east car. I wonder if the seller is simply looking at the hub configuration and doesn’t understand? Hub has auto and lock options. My guess would be it is standard transmission.
You can use the button or the lever to engage 4H, 4L is only from the lever.
I always left my hubs locked all the time. If I was road driving on ice/snow I’d use the button to ‘shift on the fly’ in and out of 4H as road conditions changed, if I was off-road I used the lever so I could switch...
My advice on buying from Dubai is do not under any circumstances buy a used vehicle unless you can absolutely verify its history. (I found a mint 78 but was suspicious as it was worth more in Australia where it had come from when I finally got the VIN the rap sheet of damage was 4 pages…total...
There are a few companies that sell adjustable gas struts, I bought some for my roof. They come gassed up and you then release the pressure until you get to what you need. They sell as a custom part, you select the fittings you require on each end and the length. SGS were I think the company I...
