    30 MPG from an 80 ?

aah. i used the "first click" approach on my wife's van but assume different pumps may click at different times depending on the speed of fuelling. Will try this next time. god i LOOOOOOOVE having no "fancy electronics". It's just an excuse for "fancy bills" from "fancy garages". had enough of...

    30 MPG from an 80 ?

hahaha, handy this thanks. Whats the brim the tank "method"? I assume you just mean filling to brim, not some trick to get more mpg?! :D

Another tyre/tire question but please read!

I didn't want to start YET another tyre thread so thought I would tag on here.... I have Michelin Latitude Tour HP tyres on Amazon 100. when changing them, I am not sure whether to stick with them or go for ATs or something a bit more chunky. Do people rate the Michelin Latitudes for tarmac...

What a mistake that was ! Advice to come back required !

I do wonder if sometimes I go a bit too far. Found a car, spoken to dealership who did the servicing and they said it was all done properly (its toyota dealer) including injector seals done in 2002 at 19k miles. I then got V5 sent by the dealer selling the car, looked up address and found the...

That would make sense. Never heard it before so maybe it applies to all VXs

Anyone ever heard of a Land Cruiser 4.2 VX TDA? The TDA part I am mainly asking about, not heard that before but it's on the V5 so it must be a real model/spec, anyone know what it means?

What excellent advice, thanks a million Ian. Not sure if I dare to actually do this as I can't afford to fly hundreds of miles and not bring the car home based on just the ACH but nice to know how to do it as, if the car is already borderline walk away (bloody hope not!) then this will be...

Ian thanks very much for this. I wouldn't have a clue where to start but my mechanic should have an idea, although I will guide him using info from here, thanks very much everyone. I am waiting for underneath photos on one I am very very interested in at the moment, superb price, MOT history...

What a mistake that was ! Advice to come back required !

Does anyone know the main pros and cons of VX versus GX? I am trying to convince myself about the cloth instead of the leather. Have to factor in the fact that VXs are more sought after so probably command a better price, not that I am planning to sell but have to factor that in. The leather is...

holy 5hit i just saw the price of escape seat covers! http://www.equipt1.com/item/toyota-land-cruiser-100-series-vx-front-seat-covers-grey. Maybe if I was heading to the outback, but not for a few drives a week! Yes that GX does look darn good, the MOT history is bloody good as well. I do have...

What a mistake that was ! Advice to come back required !

http://rushmoormotor.co.uk/vehicle/name/toyota-amazon-gx-4-2d/ - this looks a cracker. Only problem is its a GX not a VX. I know there is an advantage of not having the AHC to go wrong, but I do LOVE leather and really don't like cloth seats. I have wet kids (surfing) in car a lot and always...

Thanks, I wouldn't have spotted the rear doors. I am generally a bit twitchy about it, to justify such a journey I really need to have zero concerns. They were however very good on phone and have a good reputation as dealers go.

Ah I see thats handy info thanks. The one I was going for has been wax oiled and I hate that unless done when brand new, in which case I like it as I live near the sea and know the benefit of wax oil if its not used to cover up scary crap for a new buyer! I am now considering this one...

Thanks, I tried to trawl through the classifieds but don't have time to run through every ad so not sure how to find him, Do you know his username please? You laugh all you want, at least my misses has some handles to grab hold of when I introduce her to the plush rear cargo area. Bugger, if I only I meant what I just said and wasn't over the hill. :D Some great advice there Andy thanks. I still don't know what AHC is but suspect it's the...

Just counting my pennies! Also want my mate to inspect it for me as I ain't exactly as mechanical as most posters on here. If anyone has any tips on what to look for on a 100 series (51 plate) I am all ears :)

Maybe, I didn't know anything about prices, but I know quality when I feel it under my ar5e and all around me!! The 100 just seemed like a rolls royce in comparison. Quiet, smooth, spacious, just sex on wheels. The 120 felt like Land Rover had tried to make one similar, and failed :D Obviously...

Hiya, I still just sort of ignore comments mentioning 90, 95 or 105, I have had it explained but I can't get all the models into my thick skull so for now there are 80s, 100s and 120s :D I drove a 120 today, oh my god it's not a patch on the 100. It just felt like a chunk of plastic. Maybe the...

I have read this thread cover to cover and you could virtually replace everyone of Paulpens comments with my own! I am in virtually precisely the same boat. Drove a 100, sex on legs and smitten with it. 80s are too old for me, I don't need the serious off road abilities, and I am not mechanical...

    120 2003-2007 as overlanding vehicle??

Thanks Bhutan, yes more confusion! I am actually back to considering a 120 after someone said the pre 2004 100s were not as good as post 2004 100s, and I can't afford one of those. the 120s are cheaper to buy, not my ultimate dream car and not quite the tank of an Amazon 100, but i need to get...

    120 2003-2007 as overlanding vehicle??

Anyone care to comment on advantages of a 120 over a 100? I am a bit lost in all the spec differences and the variations you find on all sites which try and cover it all!

Howdy to all reliable vehicle fans!

I see you have a Blackbird. Sold mine last year, gut sick :( AHC - is that the lower/raise thingie (which wasn't working in the car I took out the other day!)? so post 2004 100 is better, in what way? Build, driving, technology? I had my heart pretty set on a 2001 100 series, so need to...

    30 MPG from an 80 ?

Sounds like a plan then! How long have you been doing it? No issues with your vehicles at all? (not expecting any as most well made bio is better than what's in garages from what I hear, just checking) Does it take long to process?

Howdy to all reliable vehicle fans!

oh geek, now you're making it complicated again :D :D. No i have only driven the 2001 100 Amazon I drove yesterday. What's the difference then? I have to say whilst I can't profess to have much knowledge at all, I do have a VERY strongly held opinion that hardly ANYTHING gets BETTER as time...

Howdy to all reliable vehicle fans!

excellent advice there Jon thanks, Chris sort of set me down the same track. I definitely don't need the awesome off road abilities of the 80, I wouldn't even test the 100 properly. Even if I get some new land to shoot on, it's just fields, no mountains round ere :D Yes I think I am decided on...
