    Main Headlights Electrical Issue

Ok, so I took out the screws at the front of the dash (facing the driver) but couldnt get the actual dash off - like its stuck towards the windscreen. Is there a catch there that Im missing? Feel like such a dumbass lol sorry! The light has flickered on intermittently between switching states...

    Main Headlights Electrical Issue

Hmm, yeah i suppose so, good thinking! :-) the thing is it used to flash intermittently between switching - kind of halfway point - so I know the bulb is ok. Or was a week ago, it has since stoped flashing intermittently ha ha although it could be the bulb, and I will have to check, I think its...

    Main Headlights Electrical Issue

Hi Talaman, Oh that is very interesting. The guy I bought it from installed halogens which are lovely and bright vut that could well be it - I would be bloody surprised if my 93 had a CANBUS but will double check on the electric diagrams. If thats the case can you tell me more of what you did...

    Main Headlights Electrical Issue

Hi All, I have an electrical issue with my 93 Troopy which am hoping to get some help with involving the dash indicator light for the main headlights. Whilst I can actually turn the lights on, the blue light on the dash remains dormant. The problem is that I can't tell when my lights are on full...

    Troopy Front Rotors

Will with my vast experience I can tell you that....I didn't do it! After taking days to even loosen the damn bolts on the calipers and then bleeding the brakes, I'd had enough and wanted the job done this side of 2019. So I got someone else to do it. Besides, I didn't have the tools at the time...

    Solar Problems

Yes for one, the other looks in the same condition but will test it anyway once I can get to the junction box. I had a chat with the technical team that supply the flexible solar panels in the first place and they asked whether the panels were glued and said that'd be the problem (as I...

    Solar Problems

Yeah thats what I feared - that it wont give me any access at the back. Its the junction box or nothing i think...but if that doesnt work i'll have to remove the panels anyway. Yeah i checked at the controller, thats what started the whole operation . . .0.77V. At the junction box though its 0V...

    Solar Problems

Would assume that a beep test would detect whether the circuit is broken or not...which leaves me the option of taking it apart and seeing if there is a disconnect at the back..although, can you see that (or even do anything about that) with flexible panels?

    Solar Problems

Well am currently getting 0V, Id love 18V! :-) will see if I can take one of the panels off to test if its got any loose connections at the front. After I get all the silicon out of the junction box as id be gutted if the problem was there. There is a diode I think within the junction box...

    Solar Problems

Think the last guy was worried someone would steal them, which given where I intend on taking the vehicle, that may not be bad advice. Certainly living in Melbourne I have come back to see a footprint on my bonnet before (I was outraged!). I like the sound of Silkaflex, will have a look. As to...

    Pipe or Valve?

I have two tanks set-up for my Troopy and the main tank joins the rear about where the drivers door is. It has leaked diesel for some time so thought I'd put an end to it and after some rummaging found diesel was leaking between a metal pipe welded in the middle of the vehicle. I've by-passed it...

    Solar Problems

Had wondered the same thing but think the cells connect in series vertically and horizontally, not diagonally....BUT what the hell do I know?! ha ha it is certainly possible they could be shorting. Think they are metallic and unsure how far they go down - the panels sit on a foam which itself...

    Solar Problems

I have bought a Troopy with flexible solar panels installed and a CMTP002 solar controller. It doesn't look like the most expensive thing in the world, but in the land of it'll do, it may do. However, I'm getting ZERO volts from the panels on the controller. Moving instead to the junction boxes...

    Fridge and battery/solar panel size

So....more crap news. I tested out the solar panels directly at the junction box and seems I am not getting entirely the voltage I would hope so. See pic. The junction boxes were filled with silicone which made getting at them pretty difficult, but anyway....any suggestions on next steps would...

Yeah I was going to ask if you got a SmartPass too, but you have an awesome set there. I have mains hook up already and was nosing around to see if it actually charged batteries too when plugged in...theres a minefield of wires in this landy!

    Fridge and battery/solar panel size

Think the Ctek d250s is the ultimate, it's what I've been coveting for ages anyway. However, I do have an old battery isolator working already (well I say working, it seems to be, which is no guarantee of anything! ha ha) and the CTEK does have the drawback in that it doesn't tell me current...

    Fridge and battery/solar panel size

Well the good news is that the batteries seem to be running fine. Without the engine running the Main Battery is at 12.98V and Second Battery at 12.88V. When running, they have 14.12V and 14.18V respectively. Haven't tried them under a five min load test which I read about though . . . I do have...

    Fridge and battery/solar panel size

Hi Andy, Well the other day it was running at about 2 or 3 degrees with an outside temperature of perhaps 25, dropping over night. Since Im in Ausstralia and we're approaching summer, the outside temp is only going to increase

    Fridge and battery/solar panel size

Hmm, maybe there is something wrong with the battery then . . . the primary starts fine, but maybe there is something wrong with the secondary. Only brought the vehicle in July so unsure of the history of the batteries. They have dates written on them but unsure if they were dates of install or...

    Fridge and battery/solar panel size

Bit late to the thread, but I am running a similar set-up - 2x100W flexible solar panels which at best will push in 5A a piece, with a 100Ah battery running a 40L Waeco fridge, which pulls 5A. So whilst my Solar may give me on a lovely day realistically 8 hours of light at probably only 3.5A, my...

    Troopy Front Rotors

So I've set about changing the rotors and pads on my 1993 Troopy. Easy job, I thought. An hour maybe, I thought. Kerrist almighty...couple of questions for those in the know: The new pads can replace the old ones but rub on the rotors massively - this is either due to the increased size of the...

So after a little while, I've checked the the mountings and they look fine, however the problem may be on one of the uni joints as there is some slight wear and crud around the end of it. Will take a closer look in the coming days, as soon as I sort out my issue with the rotors (which I'm about...

Hi, Sounds like this could be one of several problems but will submit to the brains trust! Just bought a 93 Diesel Troopy, all very exciting and generally looks in good condition and it's my first Toyota. I've got a load of vehicle history with it, but not much on anything with the clutch or...

New Owner of an Old Troopy

Hi All, Day2 of my Land Cruiser Club Experience! So I have two questions: Firstly on Manuals and recommendations - I don't mind...

    Hola Troopy Owners!

Thanks Richard! The saving grace of my old landie did have an Eberspacher though, which are absolute beasts! Mine though was made in East Germany, beat that! ha ha As in typical fashion though, when I needed heat the most in the middle of bloody Tibet, did it work? Did it balls.

Urgghhh, I'm going to be such a newb. First poster, first forum probably ever, can't even work out how to put a signature on. Sweet!
