That's what I thought. Does anyone have a part number of the voltage regulator, the writing on mine has rubbed off!

    Killing Batteries

No I didn't forget! Could it be the voltage regulator? The voltage yesterday kept on going up and up, at one point it was at 17v! I disconnected the regulator and obviously had no problems but obviously it won't be charging the battery whilst driving.?

    Killing Batteries

I have been having constant electrical issues recently. The latest is that i actually managed to kill a battery! Horrible egg smell and the battery casing was inflated! I replaced it with a new battery, cleaned the earth terminal and cables then started her up. I then noticed I'm getting over...

    Trouble Starting

*Update* so I have put a piece of clear pipe in between the tank and filter, I did notice that there was air getting in somewhere and the fuel was returning back to the tank when the engine wasn't running. I tightened everything up and things looked better, a small air bubble when the engine...

So where do i put the non return valve? On the pipe to tge engine or on the return to the tank?

    Trouble Starting

But once the car is running, it runs great, if it was fuel related, surely it would run rough?

It's back to its same tricks, do you think it could be the glow plugs even though they tested OK?

    Trouble Starting

Hi everyone, My Lj70 2.4TD has developed a starting problem. I have just recently replaced the starter motor, Fuel filter and everything on the fuel delivery is fine. I also tested the resistance of the glow plugs and they all seem to be the same value. But when I try to start the car, it...

    Electrical Problem

I have checked all the positive connections and they seem fine. The grounds are hard to say as there seems to be to be so many of them! But the ones I can see seem to be ok My car is '99 so a 70. The battery gauge shows normal voltage, but the battery light stays on permanently then stays on...

Hi Everyone, hope you are all having a good day. So I have just recently developed a weird problem, my LJ70 is working fine, however, nothing electrical works in the cabin. HJ75 2H diesel 1989 ...........flexible diesel rubber fuel hose size?

I had exactly the same problem I ended up replacing the fuel pipe (10mm) and return pipe (8mm) front to back with complete lengths of pipe, it's the best way to make sure Also handy to put in a piece of clear pipe on the return feed in the engine bay then at least you can see any air in the...

    Loosing Power Again!!

So after my last thread regarding loosing power, it is happening again! This time I know for certain it is not the fuel system! The car is idling smoothly, but when I get to roughly 3k revs, the car starts to splutter and loose power. The car has also started to struggle getting uphill, no...

    Low oil pressure

So after fixing a fueling problem, it's on to the next issue. I am slightly worried about my oil pressure. When I start the car in the morning the pressure gauge reads 3/4, but when the car is fully warmed up and even under heavy load the gauge is off the scale past Low! The oil level seems...

    Loosing power

UPDATE So today I have done the following : - tightened down the fuel pickup with new bolts as tight as I could - checked that jubilee clips are tight on the fuel lines at the tank and engine - taken off the fuel cap and run the car like that. - checked the fuel filter is tight and that the...

Thanks Frank, I have a new filler pipe that I haven't bothered installing yet, is it an easy fit? Or do you have to drop the tank?? (really don't want to do that again!!)
  33. AlexDukes

    Loosing power

As far as the air in the fuel line, bearing in mind I have new pipes going from tank to engine with no joints or connections, I am guessing it is coming from the seal around the fuel pickup?? Or could it be coming from a tank breather pipe??? ?

    Loosing power

So tonight I have removed the fuel pick up from the fuel tank and removed the filter which didn't look too bad. I then reinstalled the pick up without the filter (wrong, I know) but I just wanted to cross off problems. I used the pump on the filter in the engine bay to get the lines primed I...

    Loosing power

So on another forum, I was advised to look at the actuator so I thought I would have a go at that first as it's an easy job, no change But I did notice on last night's test run that at 3000rpm, the car just started spluttering as if it can't clear its throat and no power

Before I cleaned the fuel system, it wasn't similar at all, much worse, the car felt like it was running on 3 cylinders back then, so much better now! I installed a new fuel filter in the engine bay, but not sure whether you are taking about a different fuel filter?? As far as smoke is...

OK, thank you STARCRUISER, I will buy some clear pipe today and try and find some Wynns Eco Diesel, easier said than done in France! I have had the truck for 3 months or so, no idea of previous history although the engine bay looks imaculate, doesn't mean anything though!
