Which modifications will devalue an original BJ43?

Hi Grimbo, sounds like the safest way to go about it. also, just as there are chassis numbers and engine numbers specific to every 40 which enables one to authenticate it, are there similar codes/symbols which would enable someone to authenticate other components too such as the trany and the...

Hi Rodger, thats a good point. is it also safe to assume that the raw materials used to manufacture all the components are more superior in the 40s?

Which modifications will devalue an original BJ43?

Hi Guys, i have an original 1983 BJ43 with an original 1B engine and 4 speead gearbox. i want to replace the front diff cause the current diff needs an overhaul making engaging 4x4 risky so im planning on replacing it with that of a newer model cruiser because then i could also get disk break...

What is the best engine upgrade for a 1B driven 1983 BJ43?

Hi Rodger, Excellent point. My intention is to improve off road performance meaning getting out of mudholes and ditches when in the bush much quicker. And yes off-road rigs do not make good street racers and dragsters! Based on what you said, trying to artificially increase the top speed...

What is the best engine upgrade for a 1B driven 1983 BJ43?

Hi Rodger, Thank you very much this information! Suppose i do all the necessary mods to the engine and install a turbo to the original B engine, would it be a huge disadvantage to leave the original transmission (assuming it is in perfect condition) instead of replacing it with a 5 speed? And...

Which model will appreciate in value? BJ43 (1983) or BJ60 (1989)?

You will notice that I've modified the rear doors to accommodate glass windows instead of the clear plastic which is the original design. i did this for better visibility and safety. makes a big difference when driving on Sri Lankan roads!

    Hi guys!

Thank you David. This means that Daihatsu and Toyota had a joint production agreement at some point. The part in the photo i've attached is where i first noticed these two logos. it was really prominent after cleaning up and painting it. i've highlighted these two logos in red.
