Different wheels on the front and back

i have the family bus which has the 1vd ftv 3l block and auto transmission. just wanted to see if people had done swaps and what they thought. i like the idea of a 3uze-fe or the 4.5l v8 from the 200 series. the 4.5l v8 is a 1vd-ftv based block, would it bolt without adapters to the auto...

Different wheels on the front and back

I had 265/65/17 J7.5 from stock and changed to 305/50/17 J8.0. Toyota make some 20inch alloys. I was fortunate to find a set. They work really well, i can drop pressure to 21psi when off roading without creating tyre roll.

Different wheels on the front and back

this is what I went with in the end, 305/50/20. I think they look fantastical lol. there's enough profile on the tyres for off road use. I dont like the atrac system, its just too slow to kick in when you need it and could benefit from a rear diff locker.

    damper rebound compression and towing

Have seen a 3inch lift kit with internal bypass shocks that have two way adjustment. How much do these normally go far? Just a ball park figure.

    damper rebound compression and towing

Hi im thinking about changing the shocks on our 120 to some heavy duty ones. what does heavy duty specifically mean? does it mean firmer compression and quicker rebound? or does it mean firmer compression whilst the rebound is kept the same when compared to oem.

fog light and drivers side memory window

Vehicle from new had incorrect wiring from factory. Its a 120 series with looms from the 95 series. Chassis number brings up wiring for 120 series.

fog light and drivers side memory window

just thought would give you an update, the vehicle is a 120 series but has the wiring of the 95 series. the genuine harness does not have a relay, requires complete rewiring. this doesn't make sense as there's a connector in the boot to hook up harness for ease of installation. have replaced the...

fog light and drivers side memory window

everything was fine until whilst testing I shorted the fog light wiring. simultaneously rear the fog light stopped working, lights on the dash came up, the auto window close has stopped working, clock lights up but the time doesn't change and the remote central locking doesn't work. I've used a...

fog light and drivers side memory window

HI have ran into a problem that is baffling me, was installing the wiring for the towbar but now my rear fog light doesn't work and drivers side window will not retain its memory. also my trc lights came up. any ideas what might be wrong? ive checked the fuses, fog light relay. kind regards

seat belt - 2nd row centre seat belt

which manual are you referring to? the ones I've checked do not give details for the centre belt of the second-row removal. I've had a look today and from what I can see the base will need to be removed. just want to be sure there are no surprises on opening. webbing needs replacing. kind regards

seat belt - 2nd row centre seat belt

Hi Looking for advice regarding the centre seat belt removal of the second row. the seat belt is enclosed within the folding seat. there's a zip at the back of the seat for access but I don't see the mechanism. surely I don't have to strip the seat? if someone could point us in the right...

    Bonnet not closing...

had the same problem. i noticed on ours the hinges on the catch were rusty and not moving freely or as freely as they should to fully engage and what would happen is the bonnet would open again after closing. I greased the hinges on the catch and it solved the issue.

    B F Goodrich KO 2 on Prado 120

i have these on our at the moment, 265/70/17. the thread pattern and reinforcement on the sidewalls is fantastic. they also look great. i also have 32mm hub-centric well spacers (if buying go for the best quality).

    Tyres

Was just wondering if anyone has fitted 305/50/20 renegade tyres and what mods they had to do on a toyota landcruiser 120 series. I have a 2inch lift and 32mm spacers. The alloy wheels have an offset of 25mm.

    front passenger sound

Rattle gun and 6 sided impact sockets, the caliper carrier bolts on my Forester were really tight yesterday and that was after several days of soaking with Plus Gas, impact gun tends to shake them out where brute force more inclined to snap them clean off. Go one treat yourself to a rattle gun...

Hi Need some help removing some brake Calipers. any suggestions on how to remove seized nut, have some open hydraulic spanners but they will slip if i put any more torque. Penetration oil doesn't help.

Hoping its the wheel hub bearings that have gone or started to go. Under load no sound - when you start to slow down you can hear.

    front passenger sound

Hi cant figure this sound out, comes from the front passenger side on deacceleration. its not the differential, the transmission and transfer box seem fine so I'm thinking must be a bush. its not a whinning sound or grinding, its like excessive wind turbulence. any ideas guys. the front control...

Different wheels on the front and back

I understand the concerns but the design of the transfer box and open centre diff - why cant it accommodate. I'm not saying that this is what I will do, I'm just thinking if its an open diff theoretically it shouldn't be a problem. opinions about oil shear have been mentioned and to me this...

Different wheels on the front and back

everyone is entitled to an opinion and that is your opinion, point noted- your e not open to a civilised debate. I'm genuinely interested in the engineering aspects of modifications and posed a question. in return, you've ridiculed me. your not a very nice person.

275/55/20 arch loss of 17.1mm 305/50/20 arch loss of 18.35mm 265/70/17 arch loss 13.25mm 285 arch loss of 8.35mm so I'm thinking 275 might be the best choice, not as wide as the 305 but similar increase in circumference and shouldn't require any mods or trimming

Different wheels on the front and back

thinking maybe 275/55/20 renegade tyres could be a good compromise or 285/50/20. i ve seen some 305/50/20 on the 120 series but not sure what modifications they had done. ours has a 2inch lift and diff drop kit. currently have 265/70/17 on 32mm hubcentric spacers which gives about 31 inches...

Different wheels on the front and back

putting different sizes on the front and back, wheels will obviously spin at different speeds. on an open differential, this would not be an issue. I'm thrown off by the 40-60 torque split. when the car runs its an open centre differential unless you decide to lock. the torque split on the 120...

Different wheels on the front and back

Hi all Im thinking about putting smaller wheels on the front of my landcruiser 120, something like 285/50/20 and on the rear 305/50/20. Its an lc4 series so has the atrac and centre diff lock. The thing that puzzles is that its permanent 4wd with a 40-60 torque split front to back. If i dont...
