Just an idle thought. Most (all?) the builds I`ve seen of overland builds, mostly Troopies seem to have seating on the left and larger cabinets on the right. Is there a reason for this, or just coincidence, or ???

A couple of general comments first: As I understand it (subject to correction) the additives in GL4 and GL5 are different, and will affect the wear in gearboxes. If your gear box has already suffered wear related damage then changing oils won`t make much difference now. If the synchro is worn...

Looks very nice. RHD might be an issue for some, but not impossible to get past. I am sure that someone in the UK would bite your hand off for that vehicle.

Cheers, for that Charlie. On my 75 the original tank is on the RHS, not the rear, so that TR58 would not be a straight swop. Having now put my spare wheel on the door, there is space there......but the wheel carrier might need to see an angle grinder.

Thanks for the replies. I`ve now put a new rear door on, with tyre mount, 76 Troopy spec. New "Arcasting Racer" wheel sourced too. Yep, expensive, but a steel framed alloy, so fingers crossed that is a one-off purchase. Been scratching my head looking at the wiring on it. 12v with 24v...

My 75 has the spare mounted under the rear, I`d like to mount it on a rear swing-away or on the rear door. The current rear door doesn`t seem to have enough internal strengthening Swing away mount on a custom bumper may be ok, but heavy. I`ve seen that the later rear doors will be OK, but...

LJ70, I`ve no knowledge of but as a general case: White "smoke" is water vapour, (or diesel vapour when starting up from cold) blue smoke is burnt oil, black smoke is unburnt excess diesel. If air filter is clear, then possibly bad injectors, worn pump, injection timing out?
