Hey FJ bruiser, thanks for that feedback. It is so reassuring to keep reading what a great engine the 1KZ is and really good you have got to much life and good times out of yours with the family. I hope to have mine for another 10 years. I was just speaking to someone who recommended changing...
Ha I’m sure it’s unlimited all the cool things that can be added. Need to convert my shed into a home on our property first before letting loose on the LC I’ll know where to come for all the fun things
First I just want to learn how to maintain it to keep it fit and healthy for the next 10 years. Yeah, thinking a lift kit at some point. Snorkel as well. Not sure what else to add. Suggestions?
Yeah I love the colour. Yeah that’s interesting regarding the cooling. I’ll need to learn to change my coolant as I’ve only just learned to change oil. Not sure about a separate cooler will need to do more research. Will keep an eye out on the radiator as well. Thanks for all the info and tips...
Mate, that’s all so interesting. Sounds like you have driven and known a fair few of the Toyota Diesel engines. It’s really great to hear that the injectors are not an issue on the 1KZ. I hear it’s a real pain with the D4D in the Prado and Hilux which is the standard around here. I live in the...
Thanks Shane, now I know where the brake fluid reservoir is. The plate doesn’t have any of those numbers as it might be different in Australia. See attached
Hey Juddian, yeah it looks like we have a different version of the 120 out here and I’m pretty sure we have it in the petrol v6 as well. Great to hear it’s a reliable Diesel engine and Im lucky that my next door neighbour does all his own work to his own cars ans so now I can change my oil, oil...
One of the reasons I keep thinking it is pre D4D is that some of my friends who have a Hilux or Prado with D4D it’s written on the engine and there is a badge on the side of car where as mine has neither. But as I’m new to it all I could be totally wrong!
Thanks mate. Hope work is going ok for you. I didn’t realise it was a form of D4D. The mechanic at the Toyota dealership I bought it at went to do some electronic testing of the injectors as I was purchasing it and when he lifted the front he stopped and said this engine will never have injector...
Hey everyone,
I’ve purchased a 2005 120 series in great condition. It has 150K km on the clock and had one female owner who serviced it every 5K km and I’m pretty sure never took it off road. It seems like it’s just been broken in. I’m based in northern NSW in Australia where every second car is...
Hey mate, you mentioned in your post that the injectors might need changing. I’ve got the 2005 which is pre D4D and my understanding is that there isn’t the same issues with injectors? I am totally fresh to the world of landcruisers and Diesel engines so totally appreciate all the insights on...
Hey Tractionman, thanks for your response. My engine is the model before the D4D and hence the question as there is so much info about the D4D. I know mine doesn’t have the injector issues but it also has less power than the D4D. It seems to be a note basic engine which will have its pros and...
I recently purchased the 2005 series with only 150K km on the clock and absolutely love it. I’m new to Diesel engines and would love to know more about the pros and cons of this particular engine and what preventative measures I should be taking to keep it running smoothly for as long as...
