one other thing I wanted to ask, this is a manual whereas most others I’ve seen have been auto boxes. Are there any differences in terms of reliability and is the clutch manageable for somebody who is quite light built - ie my wife? Cheers
Hi all. Search went a bit cool then was reinvigorated by a work trip to Kenya where everybody was driving LCs of various vintages! Barely a LR to be seen! Just wondered if ther group had any thoughts on this 120 that has just been listed. A few corrosion issues listed on the MOT a few years’...
Just wondering what model this one is? Same year as the 120 I was looking at, but this is a different shape with a bigger Diesel engine. Were older models being sold at the same time? Check out this Toyota Landcruiser Amazon that I have just found on #motorscouk - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club]
Nice video! The original rationale was to have a car that could get a family of four and a dog to Sweden for the summer each year in relative comfort and have some adventures along the way. And maybe at some point in the future tow a small boat. And then I started to think about the old 70s RR I...
Reading lots more of the posts on here and while a 120 is probably the more suitable vehicle for what I need, I have to say the 80s do look cooler, especially when set up for overlanding. A 120 with a snorkel doesn’t look quite right! Does anybody think the 120 will ever be considered a modern...
Thanks a lot Jacob. As per advice from another member I did have a look on some Spanish websites. Prices and mileages even higher! What was just a kernel of an idea is now turning into a bit of obsession. I’m blaming the forum!
Thanks Dave and Andy. So that’s a pretty empathic no for the 80 then! Just having these chats I was starting to get the buzz I used to have when I owned the 74 safari RR. It was always breaking down (once blew a rad hose in the middle of nowhere by the Masai Mara) but I could generally fix it...
Thanks Dave! I originally thought of some kind of twin cab as it would have loads of space to lug things over to our summer house in sweden, but there doesn’t seem to be many LHD 4x4s to choose from.
Even if that one’s not the one, you guys’ passion is rubbing off! This one is older, but the shots of the under carriage look clean. 13k for a 1991 car sounds a lot, but if it’s got another 100k in it, maybe not. Would this model be fun to drive across Europe? LEFT HAND DRIVE 1991 [H] TOYOTA...
Thanks Carl. You beat me to it with the link! That’s the car. Not sure why I missed the touch screen when I looked at it. Fiixated by the cassette player. I also didn’t know you could check out MOTs for cars you don’t own! Had a few family cars that have failed MOTs due to corrosion and they...
Thanks a lot for the advice Carl. Much appreciated. It’s for sale via a dealer in Chesham Bucks. Does the price sound reasonable assuming there isn’t any corrosion. I don’t think it actually had a touch screen set up as it still had a cassette player! If you change to springs presumably that...
Hi there. I’m probably posting under false pretences as I’m not yet an LC owner, but I’ve been trawling the Internet for advice and this forum seems to have the best insight! So here goes, hopefully you can help! My wife is Swedish and we spend most of the summer there. For some time I’ve been...
