Sorry, I just saw that this thread is for the 100 series, apologies to all.

Replace alternator on my 4.2l Diesel

The alternator also has a pivot that is underneath the alternator with a bolt that should be loosened as well. Care should be taken with the tensioner bolt, I snapped mine because I didn’t loosen the lock bolt first.

    Parts needed for HZJ 80 - 1991

Partsouq in Dubai (?) is also a great resource for parts or to look up part numbers. I have bought many parts from them and shipping was very fast (not cheap!!) good luck.

I have the hand throttle lever which could be used to help. I will report back what happens……probably in January.

    ACSD delete 1 HDT.

Not sure if adjustment is needed as I did this delete in the heat of the summer. Over 90F in the garage at the time. I will surely find out as cooler and colder weather approaches.

    ACSD delete 1 HDT.

All, I removed the ACSD from my 1 HDT equiped 80 series. After research, apparently the ACSD could cause some serious issues to include destruction of the IP. It was a fiddly job with tight spaces and small parts. I used the delete kit from Back40 imports. I also purchased some new SS hex bolts...

Lug nuts 80 series - sorry

Would torque values be different for different lug nuts? I know that torque value s would be different for steel vs Aluminum wheels.

    The “rattle” hunt……

All, I made some shims using scrap metal (disregard the plastic pieces in the photo, they were not needed.) and mounted them on top of the rubber dampening assembly. The hanger rests on to top of the shims. There was not a lot of extra bolt for the mounting nuts to screw down on to but even if...

    The “rattle” hunt……

Thanks Dave, yes, I agree. I don’t have any carpet on the lower rear door, I did remove the inspection panels and found one of the control rods to be loose but couldn’t figure out how to tighten it. I will dive back in there when I get a chance. The new exhaust has a small amount of clearance...

    The “rattle” hunt……

Hahaha, well, another smaller rattle has started up. Sectional exhaust systems no doubt require a bit of trial and error to adjust for rattle free operation. It is curious that it didn’t sound outside the Crusier, just on the interior. My son stood outside and couldn’t here anything on the...

    The “rattle” hunt……

All, I found it. That rattle was coming from the last tail pipe section. The hanger bracket was touching the body. I readjusted the hanger by loosening the tail pipe section and once in place, I bolted everything back together. I have a feeling this new exhaust is going to be trial and error as...

    The “rattle” hunt……

No spare wheel down below, tires are 33” and won’t fit. Some of the clearances are tight but the pipe itself on all mounts is solid.

    The “rattle” hunt……

Ok, I will post up a video next week, I am at work and away from the truck. I did just install a brand new 3” exhaust from Torquit and am really hoping it’s not that.

    The “rattle” hunt……

All, I have noticed a recent “rattle” that has developed after a new exhaust system install. It occurs sometimes when driving, going over bumps etc but it is not consistent. It is really noticeable when the engine is shut off. It is not the exhaust itself but somewhere internal inside the cabin...

Sleeping-plattforms - how to sleep inside

You would need to look up the “Active Vacation” package for the series 80 in Japan. It came with some sort of sleeping arrangement, a sink that was plumbed to a water tank(?) and electrical power outlets. Pretty rare version outside of Japan. A guy over on ih8mud bought one that was imported and...

    1990 HDJ81 suspension renovation….

Hello to all, Whilst driving the other day, at reasonable highway speed on the interstat, I noticed that when going over bumps in the road, my LC ”danced” quite a bit.
