    100 series tips and advice

Hi Folks. I recently bought a 2006 100 series with 250k miles on it. Its in pretty good condition. The service book shows approximately 2 services a year from 2006 to 2018. The book is then full, and the new one unfortunately lost. One owner from 2006 - 2023, so I assume he kept up the excellent...

    100 series rusty upper tailgate

Morning Folks. I have just bought a 2006 100 series. It seems in good condition, including engine [250k], bodywork and chassis. It has a good and thorough service history. However it has the dreaded rusty upper tailgate - on the underside where the lights / reversing camera are. Any advice /...

    New HJ60 Owner

Thanks for this. Its a local specialist I was planning on using - and they will do as much or as little as is needed. I will then get it MOTd and put it on the market. A friend has Myreton Motor Museum in East Lothian. The truck will be on display in there while the engine is sorted - and then...

That's a fair point for sure. Im putting a lot of money into it, and will need a good return. I figure with a re built engine and mot it could be worth a decent amount to the right person. It was never my intention to sell it - but as the costs have gone up that's changed unfortunately!

    New HJ60 Owner

Well the compression tests were very poor and half of what they should have been, or worse. Im really no mechanic, so I struggle with some of the terminology. I am now thinking after the engine re build and new mot I will have to sell it unfortunately. There can't be many in the uk like it, if...

    New HJ60 Owner

Hi Iwan - A quick update. I had a call from the garage yesterday. They have carried out a load of compression and other tests - and unfortunately its an engine rebuild. Not great and the cost worries me. However, when its done it should be a pretty valuable vehicle. There won't be many in the uk...

    New HJ60 Owner

Hi Brett No it was imported by the original owner. I have a load of paperwork. He had it on the road for a couple of years [reg HJZ9060 you can see its short UK mot history]. It was then bought by a heavy truck mechanic who did various upgrades which are great. However, he also did an engine...

Hey Folks - just joined the group. Im based near Edinburgh in Scotland. Two months ago I bought a 1987 HJ60. It was imported from Honduras [LHD] and is in incredible condition, with virtually no rust. However, I bought it without a mot, and was assured it just needed a few electrics sorting...
