Who is doing what maintenance today?

On my 100. Pretty easy as long as it's not all rusted to cr@p. Remove 2nd row seats, pull back carpet and open it up

Who is doing what maintenance today?

And I’d be buying my oil from somewhere like Opie Oils where it’s cheaper and doesn’t come in the same can as the AHC fluid allowing to get (more) easily confused

Ball joint preferred brand, or just suck it up and buy the entire low arm from Toyota?

To remove I simply knocked off the circlip then you can use a BFH to thum the old one out - not difficult at all actually. Beats me why Mr T don’t sell these as replaceable items. When I pressed in the new ones I didn’t have any instructions about lining up any marks, so here’s hoping…. When...

Ball joint preferred brand, or just suck it up and buy the entire low arm from Toyota?

I bought 555 units online, always liked them and they get great reviews from guys like CruiserPatch. Got them from AutoDoc part number SB-3812 under £25 each, much beefier than oem. Edit - the lower arm ball joints are not sold individually by toyota. While i was in there i replaced the...

Cabin air filters for JDM 100 Series..?

from what I have found out, the UK-spec 100's did not have the cabin air filter installed from standard. I ordered a retrofit kit from the USA without realising that everything would be mirrored as it is on the right of the vehicle doh but I also think the unit is a different one as the...

    Oil

Just did oil and filter, using Castrol Magnatec 5W40, will see how we get on. Decided to preserve the lower value for start-up protection, but for summer values in Europe I didn’t think the 30 was high enough….

    Lower control arm bushes question

Morning all, busy replacing lower control arm bushes and ball joint - the bushes that go in the chassis have a specific alignment (white mark at the top, tabs horizontal). I notice the 2nd, in-arm bushing has a blue mark presumably also for alignment. Does anyone know if that mark also goes...

Who is doing what maintenance today?

Replacing lower control arm bushes and ball joints - someone been there before and has left a mess. Inner CV boot clip is missing so I may end up having to sort all that too. Replacing under body covers which are now pretty fubar with ASFIR covers. Taken out 2nd tow seats, sources some...

Alternatively check for binding brakes - I had this issue, calipers were seized up and once refurbished everything worked well and as expected. Oh and check the hand-brake too, those shoes can bind too.

    AHC replacement 100 series

Replaced mine with Terrain Tamer gear. Make sure to reinforce lower control arms. I also replaced upper control arms with nitrogear kit, and an EFS diff drop kit. Drives well and alignment is spot on, 40mm lift all round. Replaced the exhaust with a stainless 30mm unit at the same time. Now...

    Turbo overhaul 1HD-FTE

I have ‘sticky vane syndrome’ on my 100 series which is very frustrating and may lead to premature turbo failure. Unfortunately as it’s variable vane I can’t replace with a G-Turbo from Oz. So I need an overhaul. Been looking about and come across turbozentrum . Co . Uk. Anyone used them...

Android head unit install on 100VX

Funnily enough it’s not that bad once you get your head around the wiring. A year on, some thoughts. 1. Being android-based it’s fairly extendable via Bluetooth or USB connection, so I’ve added a usb DAB Radio which is ok, plus I’ll be adding tyre pressure monitors. Strangely the Victron...
