Many of us just leave the hubs locked in all the time, especially in Winter. That way you only need to press the button to get 4wd. Never noticed any difference in fuel consumption myself.

Had this on my KZJ some years ago - it was the master cylinder - tried a rebuild, no better; new master cylinder did the trick. When I looked carefully at the bore of the old cylinder it had very faint scores along it which were allowing the fluid to leak past the seal.

Laid on the frozen ground and replaced the rusted, busted tank strap with a brand new one courtesy of Mr Toyota and £60 from my wallet - ouch! Easy job except I sheared the bolt that holds the strap up at the front edge of the tank and had to drill the broken end out. Inevitably buggered the...

Is your clutch booster actually broken? I ask because I thought I had this problem on my KZJ and it turned out to be a knackered master cylinder.

As my faithful KZJ passed its MOT yesterday at no cost I want to treat it to a new set of boots. The last lot are eight years and 35,000 miles old and have been great - 31x10.50x15 Kumho Road Venture ATs. They cost me about £60 a corner in 2004. I'm amazed by the internet prices of tyres now...

I've had a visible sidewall repair on my rear door mounted spare since I bought the 70 in 2003. It's gone through every MOT since with that repair.

Telling me! My runaround (Focus tdci with the 1.6 litre Peugeot engine) gives me 105bhp and 190 ilbs/ft.

Is that the legal weight Roger? I've towed three tons of gravel on a tipping trailer that must weigh close to half a ton with no problem. (Ahem . . . on private land of course, Officer. Yes of course I'll buy a ticket for the Policeman's Charity Raffle.)

If it's the same set up as on my KZJ it won't start on one battery ever - and that's been so with me for all the 11 years I've owned it.

I think the ride is pretty good on standard suspension and tyres. It's a short wheelbase rear-wheel-drive car on the road with quite a high centre of gravity, but you don't really notice it except in the wet when you have to be a little more cautious on bends to prevent it from swapping ends...
