    Which hydraulic winch...?

Ian seems pretty happy with the Type R we knocked up for him, valve blocks will be quite as a mouse providing you port the motor correctly, regardless of location.

    Which hydraulic winch...?

King One (they're the Chinese company that make the winches that Bowyer rebadges in the UK) do a pretty good hydro winch as well, as a rule look for a drive ratio of 6:1 Red winches look like a waste of money to me

Jobs to do while the head is off.

if it were mine I'd check its true and skim if needed (never know with a secondhand head), decoke ports and polish, check valve seats and lap in if needed, new valve stem seals, re-shim the valve clearances

    Hydraulic winch

I may have done a bit of winching in the past Jim but I still prefer driving - its faster ;) ok - pto power is going to be pretty slow and limit you in terms of flexibility (ie drive assist) without going to megabore feed hoses/valve blocks etc and in the real world thats not really an...

    Hydraulic winch

ok, looking at the data sheet its a complete Milemarker copy, even the the gear ratios are 6:1 and 1:1 so that makes things easy Bin the standard motor - its not even going to be good as a paperweight Go shopping for an SAE2 bolt flange, 6 spline, 1" shaft motor, the CC per Rev depends on...

How fast would sir like to pull and how much power would you like to deploy? If you could ping me a link or datasheet for the Ox winches I can do a bit of finger counting for you Cheers Jez

that makes sense Jon - Ive got a Miller Aerowave that cost me quite a few organs that apparently the medical profession view as "essential" although the plumbing section at B&Q seems to be holding up at the mo, if you want to get your hand in my suggestion is college or a cheap scratch start DC...

you might get an old Synchrowave to do it, they have selectable input to suit various US mains configurations but the cabling required is going to be monster! the alternative is a Ready welder, 3 car batteries will get you there 8-) we use them out in the woods to glue all sorts of stuff together
