I have had a look in the search and not found much on fitting a Unichip to an 4.2 TD Amazon. I understand they are actually a piggy back ECU not just a resistor to up fueling and boost. Has anybody got any experience of these on a LC100 diesel.

This sounds like he is testing the vehicle on a standard MOT brake roller. As the vehicle is permanent 4WD it should be tested by being driven with a Tapley type gauge in the cab with the driver.
