just to prove i stripped the diff myself. i wasnt as easy i thought. just as well im not a girlie girl and like getting my hands dirty. :lol:

hi guys the dragon wagon saga continues, new front diff has been fitted and she now drives but there is a gawd awful rumbling sound and vibration on acceleration coming from her.i am totally gutted thought i was going to be mobile again. there must be more going on than than just a busted...

Hi 2 u all , it might sound a bit stupid BUT, i had a rattle on my lc and sounded like 2 bits of metal hitting together like exhaust rattle,it had taken a hell of a long time to pin it down, after trying this that and the other to see what was rattling, you could hear it one day an not another...

thanks chris, that has appeased me somewhat,at least it sounds as if its only the diff. i could probably accept this better if i had been off-roading but as far as i am aware dragon was on the motorway at the time. once i have more to go i will let you know. niki

hi chris i have worded that last question a bit stupidly. she is manual i dont think i have mentioned that. sorry i meant when stationary its 50/50 if she goes into reverse or not and makes a horrible crunching noise and wont move this worries me incase there is more to this.or would stuffed...

hi chris thanks for that, thats what i was thinking ,our mate wont admit to doing anything with dragon,but everything i have read on this forum suggested there had to be enormous force through the diff but me being a mere woman doesnt fully understand load strains and torque.(but i am learning)...

hi chris thank you for that. hubby just going to garage now to try and remove diff,but he is pretty certain the problem is input end. just to what extent damage is we wont know until its stripped. thank you for your advice hopefully its not too bad. will try to get some pics today and upload...

thanks chris the picture of the diff has really helped. part 41204d is the part that is definately the wibbily wobbily part. what is your thoughts on that. a great big thank you for all your help you have been brilliant and everybody else who has helped has been great too. i will maybe sleep...

hi chris i will give you a rundown of what hubby found. the part between the actual diff itself and the propshaft has collapsed. you mentioned the shaft has an extension, which hubby did not know about,can this part be replaced, or is it part of the diff itself. hubby not to sure about 4x4s so...

hi karl my husband has been underneath the dragonwagon today and has inspected the diff today and where front propshaft attaches to diff it has completely collapsed as the flange where propshaft attaches is moving up and down a few inches and in and out a few inches so its definately the diff...
