    Cruise control....??

The main issue for the kz is that it is a mechanical throttle, so an actuator would be required to operate cruise, as opposed to the kd being fly-by-wire so a simple electronic signal does that job. I would hazard that chopping parts off an 80 might be possible, but that's based on nothing but a...

    90 Build

Nice job, and another one saved. The chassis work is the most important of all. I've been chasing rust out from under mine for a while.

    Handbrake balance.

Hi Barry, That's impressive miles to still have it on the road, rust being our enemy. I'm 100,000 behind... I presume you have adjusted the cog in the wheel drum on both sides.. this is the most effective way of sorting the handbrake

    Cruise control....??

Can't help with voltage.. but I will ask the ridiculous obvious question.. I presume you went past 30mph or so when testing.. it doesn't work below about that.

    Cruise control....??

Absolutely correct Andy.. had the 95 out over the weekend for a 200 mile motorway run.. Cruise is fantastic... I cannot understand why it wasn't fitted as standard when it's all there bar the stalk.

Now that I think, I had to run one wire across from the jack side.. the connector block in there has both indicator wires. It's meant for a trailer wiring kit. I ran the wire across.

    Cruise control....??

It's all there Jureb, you just connect the wires from the stalk into the empty positions shown in the block. Toyota in the 90s/00s made standard wiring looms with everything there.. the optional extras were simply bolt on and plug in. Mine has no A/C, but the wiring is there, same for electric...

    4WD issue

Hi Mark.. the 90 series is a permanent 4wd set up. 4H and 4L simply switch between high and low ratio with the centre differential locked. You should get an orange light with the axles and an X in the middle when engaged. It sounds like you have a transfer box issue to me, but I'm not as...

You could do that.. I've done that for the cruise control connection in the ateering wheel before. Its a nice job. On my light cluster I removed the block connector and soldered them in line with heatshrink. Unlikely I'll need to remove the wiring.. and if I ever do.. hey its a few minutes to...

Yes, I have indicators up there too.. you'll need either an amber bulb, or correct colour LED (which I have) as the lenses are clear. Otherwise its very simple. The wiring is all there. Proper bulb holders and you're set

How long have you had yours?

Thought provoked by a thread resurrection in the 90 section. I've owned my truck just coming upon 15 years. Its been there through much of my adult life... they say you're not really an adult, brain wise, until 25.. so that's about right! How long have you owned yours? Any other long term...

    Tail Lights conversion

9 year post alert! No, I haven't. Reason being that the regs state that the same light lens cannot be used for both brake and fog light. Left the brake in the bumper and the upper is a tail/fog using the 21/5w LED replacement.

    Landcruisers at work

Rare bit of work for the 95 these days, but it's still always on call for when the serious toys come out. Digger is 3 ton plus trailer. I know what the rating plate says, but if you take your time, they are well able. 80 metres of drainage pipe and 2 soak pits done today.

    Max weight in my 90

2800kg is the plated max. My lwb 95 is a commercial, so only has the two front seats. I have a toolbox built into the back which is about 40kg. It weighs 2080kg on the weighbridge empty. Tbh 500kg is all I'd be happy putting in the back. Anything more and you should really have a trailer.

Relocated the trailer to make way for the cruiser in the shed. As it's now a weekend warrior at best, this is the only way I can save it from the advances of the rusty goblin.

Rear crossmember needed some less rust in it... Temptation to build a bumper is there, but the truck is almost completely factory stock, so that would just send me down a rabbit hole I can't afford!

    Head light bulb upgrade.

I changed my 90 headlamps to LED last year.. or 2 years... whatever, January... made a huge difference to me, but then I live in the back of beyond, not off high street, so lighting up the spots where deer tend to jump across the road is a help. You will need to fit a ballast resistor. The...

No start, no check engine light, no diagnostic

Does the immobiliser not just cut off fuel supply? Forgive if I have it wrong. The kz is an older gen diesel and if it has fuel, air and compression then it should fire. Only other thought is if the batteries are shot then is it turning over too slow to start?

    Jump Start mess up

Possibly another fuse or two blown also? Seems you escaped major damage. Amazing how something so seemingly innocuous as a jump start can go horribly wrong. I also rarely use my 90 these days, especially since diesel prices went to the moon. But likewise it is incredibly good to have. 150 commercial transformations.

Interesting thread. Commercials have always outsold passenger by astronomical margins in Ireland for tax reasons. Mine is a 2 seat commercial, but I could retrofit the original seats to make a 5 seat crewcab and retain the tax. I just can't get a middle seat in Ireland that isn't ridiculous...

    Reverse camera on LC90

There is one available that replaces one of the nuber plate lights, I have seen it on eBay and on AliExpress before. Never bought as I don't have a screen head unit.. Yes, it's called vacant possession. Had a case of it with the field beside us a couple of years ago. So you want to live in Spain and bring your 80 with you.

This sounds an awful lot like the systems we use in rural Ireland, including my own. The major difference being that they are completely legal, certified and in fact grants are available if you are sourcing your own water depending on if you are a new build or not. I for one am much happier as...

    ABS LAMP

Do you have a towbar with towing electrics? Both corrosion in a tow socket, and corroded lower bumper lights can cause a short from the brake to tail positive wires and throw up the ABS light. It goes out again when the ignition is off, and may not turn on for a while when running. Commonly the...

Oil consumption on 1KZ-TE with 230k miles

Not specifically for the KZ, but a little bit of oil consumption, on a reasonably high mile engine, on a long run, wouldn't overly concern me. I would have to throw a litre in to my truck after about 5000 miles after a service, albeit higher miles and the later KD engine. But it's been that way...
