    Gullwing

I just remembered about this thread, any updates from the guys in South Africa? Turns out I was wrong about the price of the ones i'd seen before, they're not 1600USD - just a much more reasonable 1430USD! They do look really really nice but that price is crazy...

I know someone was developing this system on IH8MUD recently, everyone was very excited until the costs came in... somewhere around 1600USD for a pair if I remember correctly!!!!!!!

    Key won't turn in ignition

Just got it to work! I bought some graphite powder this morning which felt like it loosened it up a bit but didn't get it to turn. Yesterday I watched a youtube video of someone in a Chevy pickup whose solution to a similar looking problem was to give the key, while in the lock, a good solid...

    Key won't turn in ignition

@Frank - a silly question but also a real possibility in my case! Sadly not the cause this time around though. @MuckyPup - yes, I do have a fairly heavy key ring, lesson learned there I guess. I'll price a new key tomorrow. Thank you both for your input.

    Key won't turn in ignition

One day my key is working perfectly in the ignition, the next it won't turn at all. I've tried wiggling it for ages, wiggling the (locked) steering wheel, using the spare key, copious amounts of WD-40, giving it a decent tap with a hammer, running a paper clip up and down the inside of the...

    Charging voltage

This is a slightly long tale so please bear with me! About a week ago I noticed that my fridge, whose battery is charged through a charge controller that comes on at 13.1v input wasn't working due to the battery being flat. I immediately checked the charging voltage of my alternator (A1) at...

Waeco make a mini fridge that looks like it may fit in the space where the centre console lives, the only place i've seen them for sale other than on the internet is in South Africa luckily for you! Outdoor Warehouse I think but could be wrong...

    Clunk while turning

The search continues, I've not found anything conclusive yet but I tightened up a couple of things including the nut on the end of the shocks.I can confirm that none of my diff locks are engaged.I'll see tomorrow if any of my tightening has solved the issue. Thanks for the suggestions and keep...

    Clunk while turning

It doesn't happen every time, usually only while the axle is articulated (going over a bump and turning) or turning more sharply while travelling at speed (the car is leaning)A small bit of play in the left front on the vertical axis, none at all on the right. I guess this is the wheel bearing...

    Clunk while turning

Just checked, no up and down play at all. Any other ideas?

    Clunk while turning

Recently I have developed a loud clunk while turning.1) It is a loud single clunk from the front of the car, I swear I can even feel it if my foot is on the tray beneath the pedals.2) Everything I can see seems tight, all bushes seem ok etc.3) It happens first while turning one way and then the...

Thought on having no CV snap ring?

Chris, Thank you very much for the informed quick reply! I'll see head over to Toyota tomorrow to see if they have the parts, would be easier to do it now rather than later if possible but good to know I should be able to survive if they don't have the parts. Aengus

Thought on having no CV snap ring?

Missing snap ring and no weld either! Thought it better to reply to an old thread rather than start a new one. Long story short but I just finished rebuilding my front axle to replace some seals here in Namibia with a dodgy bush mechanic. Just as we were cleaning up and putting the wheel back...

    OEM wheel carrier strength

I've seen a couple of latches fail and a lot of carriers squeaking after a few years on bad roads in Africa. To be honest i'm just impressed that ALL the carriers i've seen haven't been squeaking after a few years on bad roads in Africa, much stronger system than the 70 series anyway.

    Walbro Pumps

Does anyone know of a European supplier of Walbro pumps? I'm looking to add an FRB-22 or FRB-5 pump to my 80 series and don't want to pay to ship all the way form the states. Thanks.

    Turbo Sensor (EGR removal)

Interesting. So me thinking that connecting up the turbo sensor had fixed a flat spot was just a placebo effect? Sukhraj - i'm currently in South Sudan but will be heading to Kenya in a couple of months. Do you know anywhere in Nairobi that could professionally tune my engine post intercooler...

    Turbo Sensor (EGR removal)

After some test drivers there seemed to be a flat spot in the mid rev range with the turbo sensor disconnected. In the end I thought of connecting both the turbo sensor and also all the other things Julian T had connected, this seems to be working well for now. Thanks for the advice Jon and...

    Turbo Sensor (EGR removal)

I installed an Alisport intercooler a few weeks ago and since then have been trying to remove the last remnants of the EGR system. Julian T has been giving me a lot of useful help as he had his intercooler installed by Alisport themselves. Interestingly it seems that Alisport removed Julians...

    Broken wheel stud

I've driven a couple of hundred kilometeres in my old Hilux Surf on bad roads on 3 studs, only realised I was down a few when I stopped to investigate a strange wobble when turning a corner. Three studs were sheared and two of the others nuts had fallen off leaving me with only one good nut &...

Senors on extension of inlet manifold 1HD-FT

Thank you Rob, very helpful. I've been googling and see what you mean now about the EGR being disconnected already. I am now trying to see how to disconnect the whole EGR system, vacuum pipes and all, on the other side of the engine to make for a neater result. Julian T seems to have done it...

Senors on extension of inlet manifold 1HD-FT

I went ahead with the install, i'm going to make brackets for the various items that used to be connected to the inlet manifold extension. Everything went fine except that when I fired up the engine there was a constant clicking from what I presume are some relays near the turbo - marked here...

Senors on extension of inlet manifold 1HD-FT

I am in the process of installing an Allisport intercooler on my 1995 24v GS. Everything is going well other than I do not see what to do with all the sensors currently held in place by the extension to the original inlet manifold which is going to be replaced by the new kit. Allisport said...
