    Steel Wheels - 8" or 10" wide

Cheers guys, exactly my point Chris, Ive seen quite a few big trucks (not just LC) running around on wheels built for jinmeys! Scary stuff

    Steel Wheels - 8" or 10" wide

Does anybody know a decent supplier or a source (new or second hand) for steel wheels, 8" to 10" wide with a reasonable offset that have the capacity to handle the weight of a 'cruiser? Thanks in advance

    Diff guards?

Your a brave man with than one Chris! :icon-biggrin: Remember the old one "god forgives, rocks do not!" That said I have also ran my cruiser without diff guards and no issues to date, Ive killed many a LR diff pan in my time though (even ones guarded), so they must have much more inherent...

    Praise for a supplier :-)

I have been dealing with Simon Holton of Steven Neagell Toyota for a number of matters (not all 80 series) - top guy, very helpful and friendly. For one part all I needed was a spring for the hand brake shoe setup - not a problem, can be supplied individually! Dont hesitate to contact him if...

    Another Rear Actuator Failed....

Yet another rear diff lock actuator has failed! Rebuilt 3, replaced with second hand once - I guess its the joys of using 15 year old second hand parts. Just cannot bring myself to spend hundreds on a new electric motor, I have on board air - has any body done and have details of doing the air...

    Help.....Smoking front wheel

I would have thought the chances of that happening were next to none, even if it did the centre diff would lose the wind up. May work, but to some degree unless you take off the drive (flanges or cv out) from the wheels then some part of the diff will still turn? All the above said, I have...

    Fuel gauge stuck on full.

Hi Styler, I cant help you on the electrical readings but I will say that as you have gotten that far you may as well remove the tank sender unit to check that it is not actually physically stuck. It will also give you opportunity to clean out the tank pick up gauze if its dirty - 30 min job...

    A good days trialling..............

A good days trialling, usual Landie Bashing affair...... on the way home I thought she was driving different, especially as driving to the event she was spot on after I had followed Franks steering box adjustment guide (a must do for anybody with a bit of play - it makes a tremendous...

    Radiator replacement options

Yes, Single core, agree no good in the warmer climates, fine for the UK though. Survived last summer here, being clogged up with mud and towing the caravan whilst on the worst gearing ever - manual diffs and 37" tyres!

    Adjusting 80 series steering box

Thank you Frank, followed your guide last week and had a test run on Sunday. Different car for such an easy fix.

I bought one of these a year ago, its been through many playdays and 10 trials whilst towing the caravan to and from all the events. Its been fine...

A different approach to 80 series front axle rebuilds. Really?

Just an observation Chris, I know you run trick birfields and shafts, any reason you don't have the 4030 drive flanges?

Heated Fuel (via primer & filter housing) Needed?

I dont know much of the history of mine, I know it came from Devon way when new and stayed in the general South West then up to Birmingham. I had run about 8 tanks of bio through it before I thought better of it! Foolishly I did mine with about 3/4 of a tank - I could see plenty of crud in the...

Heated Fuel (via primer & filter housing) Needed?

Following Karl's comment on the in-tank pickup filter I set aside an hour or so yesterday. Very surprised at the amount of crud on the filter (not sure how this compares to others?) This vehicle is 21 years old. A clean up with some solvent and air line - it came up ok.

Any interest in 80series front steering guards

As much as I would like one Karl (they look good), my "customising" would not let one fit  I would however, if you are going down the group buy lines, be interested in front to back: underside armor / belly plates / rash protectors / skids * Delete as applicable! I'm toying with making...

A different approach to 80 series front axle rebuilds. Really?

Interesting, I'm not disbelieving you for one moment but my instant response was to question that statement - going to do some research now to satisfy my own curiosity (I just don't see enough forces to distort anything).

A different approach to 80 series front axle rebuilds. Really?

Nice write up Chris. I am also a big fan of cleaning and preparing before re-fitting, numerous benefits such as no debris in bearings, cleaner, easier and of course it looks better! To me, the big advantage in taking the time out to do it properly is not just the confidence its been done...

Heated Fuel (via primer & filter housing) Needed?

Cheers Karl, Chris. Check valve (above) purchased as a fail safe. Must admit I need to check the in-tank filter, I've never looked at it and I have ran some sloppy bio in the past - wont hurt for a bit of preventative maintenance for once!!

Heated Fuel (via primer & filter housing) Needed?

Cheers Karl. The primer on mine gave up on a filter change a while back, I lived with it as I just filled the filter with diesel and kept the revs up on a restart. Then I started getting none starts, if I left the motor without starting for more than a day it would need priming again (it...

Heated Fuel (via primer & filter housing) Needed?

Hi all, The primer on my filter housing has given up so I bought another off eBay, bargain price I thought!................. but it has not heater . Is the heater side of the fuel delivery really needed for this country?

Inner Front Axle Primary Shield / Seal? Advice please

Back in position :icon-biggrin: - the joy of having a hangover made me think out the box as I really could not be bothered to take of the diff. The answer was one of those tools which sits at the back of the tool chest but when needed justifies the dust collection: Slidehammer through the...

Inner Front Axle Primary Shield / Seal? Advice please

Unfortunately Knucklehead they are! After some searching around tinternet (your post included) it seems opinion is split. Keep them if fitted, but if loose and not easily re-fitted then bin them. Im going to have a stab at re-fitting but if the dont play then bin them and have some fun...

Inner Front Axle Primary Shield / Seal? Advice please

Having owned a lot of Land Rover stuff I consider my CV fitting times to be among the best :icon-biggrin: but I've hit a stumbling block on the LC. Following a recent twin CV break I have stripped down ready for the rebuild when new parts arrive, however, I noticed that on both sides there is...

Not sure if this is any use but just FYI, the picture shows the breaking of two CV's yesterday (one done being stupid and knowing it might break, the other done with the locker in after the first broke and giving it beans - being stupid again!). The one on the left is a Milner HDK £80 ish...

Thought on having no CV snap ring?

Finally managed to break a CV yesterday at Frickley..... Had a spare in the boot, changed on site, only problem being that the original snap ring was ruined and the new one just would not go in. In the old range rover days I never bothered with them full stop and they never came to any harm...
