Bloody Rain! Will it Ever Stop?

Same here Stu, loads of jobs, loads of rain. I've got one job on the 120 that has water ingress, bottom moulding each side of rear cargo area. Got the parts from Amayama and windows still taped up Not even thinking about removing glass yet.

Gearbox Fluid Renewal Without A Flush

No dipstick on these auto transmission (oddly) and the expensive item inside the transmission sump is a strainer, rather than any replaceble filter.

Injector Replacement and EGR Clean - 2003 KDJR120

Agree. Sounds like you had a laugh along the way - obviously not much swearing to put her off ! A good help when the helper is in front re-organising kit as you put it down to pick up another tool or hand them to you. I had a company apprentice with me once, that was so interested he knew what...

Injector Replacement and EGR Clean - 2003 KDJR120

Laid out like a surgeons kit Sam, perfect ! Ive started out like that with jobs that soon descend into chaos tool wise. I do try to put sockets back into case and screwdrivers and different spanners with their like, but still take sorting when I want one. You didnt list a BFH, but considering...

    Map sensor replacement

Not as a 'norm whatever that is. Although I have never had trouble with one, they can on the odd occasion play up. I have, as others, given it a very gentle clean. I used switch cleaner as I didnt have specific stuff, and cotton buds on the small elongated bulb that is the sensor inside. Very...

Chassis Rust Removal -- Recommended Tools for Awkward Areas?

Karl2000 has them too. Make sure you get the high rise and not the low. The high rise give about the same as the metal 7" ? Which is loads when your under a cruiser on a creeper. The low ones at about half will give you little advantage, so worth spending the extra.

Chassis Rust Removal -- Recommended Tools for Awkward Areas?

Standard metal ones are narrow and need very careful manouvering, not something I'd want to do with all 4 at a time, 2 is enough, even with my modest standard 265 65 17 tyres. I've had a pair of the standard metal ones for years, now redundant, and when I say plastic ramps, there must be more to...

School o'clock - Auto Transmission Oil Cooling via Radiator?

Don't know, but would have thought that all the 120's maybe prior to Invincibles would have the same radiator ? If they went by your vin number which would identify year, then that's possibly why they said out of production. Toyota frequently change/update part numbers, so a possibility why they...

Injector Replacement and EGR Clean - 2003 KDJR120

Well done Sam (and wife) and it does start which is a good sign Alignment ??? Yep, I would do the 4 all at once regardless, it's all very well cutting corners on cost, but once done, they are all in there from the same date/mileage. Otherwise (time unknown) replacing individuals, you could be...

What is the world coming to?

Ah yes, good old BG. The battery in the digital meter is only supposed to last 10 years, so they wrote and told me to book an appointment for meter changeover (free). Engineer turned up on day, after 10 minutes told Mrs he had shut the job down for 'technical' reasons. No meter change ! I phoned...

    Front Bash Plate

Did you try heat ?? Cut the old guard off for more access and grind off the bottom of a socket (not part of a set), so that it grabs the hex head as soon as you offer it, as a normal socket has several mm before it contacts. Use an impact type socket that matches the hex pattern bolt, it grips...

    Front Bash Plate

Youre better off going for aftermarket types, as any from a breaker will probably be rotten anyway, They are not of any thickness to throw off flies in the first place ! Mine was rotten/had pieices missing and I had to cut/rip off what was left to get at the bolts using heat and an impact socket.

    EGR vacuum hose

There is another small bore pipe in that area with a small in line 'gas' filter that goes to the throttle body that never seems to get changed. I didn't know that Sam, I have seen both and assumed one was a knock off, but didn't know which. Obviously now, neither is. Japan does give a little more confidence, even though Toyta parts seem to come from several countries. Look forward to the rest, as and when mate.

Nice to hear from you Mick. After all the buggering about with engines initially, now this ! At least this problem is not keeping it off the road at present, - IIRC, there was a problem with dipstick/tube to start ? Apart from that, good to know the 2nd transplant went ok and is running sweet.

IF one comes up from a member, maintenance is very likely to be to a high standard with receipts, non of that old 50 stamps in a book malarky. The standard of work/parts would speak for itself.
