    Loud clicking noise

I have a 2004 Sahara that has a loud clicking noise coming from behind the centre of the dash. I have removed what I can but could not locate it. It comes and goes. It sounds like plastic gears stripping or a solonoid flipping out. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Cheers.

    Transmission wind up

Hi, my brother had same issue and after many hours of crawling around underneath, we found the front diff mounts had failed. The bolt down onto the cross member, worth a look if it's not too late..

    Vsc trc light

Sorry Bob, to answer your question about tyres, fitted Pirelli Scorpions as was told these are the quietest tyres onroad, which is what I was chasing. The humming sound is partly the tyres, as my front torsion bar has been wound up to maximum, it has a bad camber issue. Currently arguing that...

    Vsc trc light

Hi guys, thanks for your responses. Sorry for being off line but work and life keep getting in the way. Ok to update, yes it has locked the centre diff a couple of times while driving on road, which it haven't yet got to the bottom of. I read the user manual about it, and now my understanding is...

    Transmission wind up

I would try greasing the tail shaft spline. I find mine does this and needs greasing every couple of months or so. I believe it is quite common on these to dry out and stick. Hope all goes well thommo

    Vsc trc light

Thanks for your reply Bob. To clarify it is constant all wheel drive and the button locks the denture diff. It is a Sahara model so it has the traction control and stability control. When I lock the centre diff, two lights come on to indicate that stability and traction are turned off. I have...

    Vsc trc light

Hi all, the trc off light and the vsc trc lights have always come on when I engaged the centre diff. ( pushed the 4wd button). I have thought on a few occasions that it has put itself into 4wd mode while driving but wasn't positive that I hadn't bumped the button with my knee. My daughter drove...

    gauges not working

Hi all, well I convinced my 16 year old son to make his first car a 70 series land cruiser ute with a 2f diesel engine. Two main reasons, slow and only three seats. Anyway, we have purchased one and are in the process of doing it up. The fuel gauge and tacho do not work. Can anyone tell me how...

    Satnav upgrade

Hi Chris I have a Sahara and when asked about upgrading the original unit was told only the map data could be upgraded and this would not upgrade map graphics or anything else. I replaced the whole unit with a Pioneer unit, this way I was able to get satnav, Bluetooth, iPod connection and...

    Heat exchanger

The Helton is the inline one I was going for, but couldn't find any data on temp rise at x lpm, hence asking the question. I was also going to fit a thermo mixer, just hadn't seen them in kit form like Andrews. I looked at the price of Andrews and it comes in at 380 pounds, so likely too...

    Heat exchanger

Hi all was wondering if anyone has fitted a heat exchanger to the heater lines Bon the car for hot showers. As I do mostly beach work it's nice to have a quick fresh rinse off before bed. I am looking at either the inline models, but think they may not produce enough heat, the other is a ss...

    Hello help please

Hi, not sure what that codes is. I purchased a ecu reader from eBay for $45 with free delivery. It's cheaper to buy one than get your dealer to read each time. Once you know the code number you can find all the info you need to rectify the issue on this site if your a member in the service...

    V8 petrol with fault codes

Hi guys, well after purchasing my own ecu reader, I was able to identify exactly what the code was. It was actually the bank 2 sensor 1 heating coil failure. Replaced sensor and all is good. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

    Hi from brisbane

This was my 55 as purchased. Ended up it had been bogged and flogged, so it ended up with a full fiberglass front end and paint in metalic red mica. Will try and find some more photos. Will also take some of the hundy this weekend and upload.

    Hi from brisbane

Hi to all. I got my first fj55 in 1989. Upgraded to a hj60 in 1996 and finally got my v8 100 series Jan this year. Have tried all types in between and now I'm happy once again. Love reading sooo much info and would like to think I may help somone with an issue of there own at some stage.

    V8 petrol with fault codes

Thanks Jon. Have spoken to exhaust shops, Dyno tuners and mechanics. The Dyno tuner told me that the ecu would have detected the different air flows after new system was installed and tried to correct by adjusting mixture and as it has been unable to get it back within tolerance it has now...

    Exhaust options.

I had my 3" mandrel bent system supplied and fitted for under $1200 with high flow cats, but no headers. Headers to go on after Xmas. I was told headers supplied and fitted about $1000 so not too bad, apparently about 5 hours labour for headers alone. I put aluminised mild steel system on as I...

    V8 petrol with fault codes

I will call him today and see what he says. I have been doing a lot of online research and come up with the following. 1- install a spacer under the O2 sensor to reduce the amount of surface contact 2- relocate them further down the system away from the cats 3- ignore the lights or remove bulbs...

    V8 petrol with fault codes

Thanks Gav. I haven't fitted headers yet, only to keep costs down, but should go on after silly season is over. I will be fitting Geni headers which I think are made here in Australia and fitted for about $1000 all up. The system sounds really tough without any drone on the highway, so very...

    V8 petrol with fault codes

Hi all, first time so hope this is correct. I fitted a 3" mandrel bent exhaust with high flow cats about three months ago. On Monday I had my engine light come on and then the trc/ vsc and vsc off lights also come on. I had local mechanism ccheck and he said it is a n O2 sensor fault, due to the...
