100 rear diff

Hi guys

I'm looking at buying a 100 V8 Cruiser and I've been checking over all the things that should work etc.

The rear diff lock - I place the car in neutral, lock the centre diff, the light goes yellow and stays on. Lock the rear, the light blinks red and keep on blinking.

I'm guessing this means that it isn't working. What I'm looking for is;

a) the likely causes/problem
b) what it will cost to fix

The dealer is looking into it but don't want them to say "oh, I'll knock of £100 as it's an easy fix" and it taking £1000 to put right.

The centre diff engages with ease, but you may need to drive it for a bit to engage to rear diff (preferably on a loose surface and not in a completely straight line). Easyest way to check is to jack up one wheel and engage the centre then rear and turn the wheel off the ground. You will feel the rear diff lock engage and the light should go solid.

A new locker is pretty pricey if you go to a Toyota dealer somewhere between £700-1000, can't remember exactly for just the part. Fitting a new can be a pain as well if the old one has rusted badly.
