1993 80 Series engine cutting out and loss of power

Hi all, my friend has some issues with his 93 LC80 Auto 4.2td. He will be driving it and upon accelerating it seems to lose power and then cut out. It does not cut out all the time but when it does it starts first turn of the key. This has not long been serviced with a new Mann fuel filter. I have been told there is another filter in the tank is this true? Before anyone asks, no he has not put petrol in it

Check fuel tank pick up and let's go from there.

How clean is oil filter.

For what its worth I always use gen filters.

The oil filter was replaced at the same time as the fuel, when the service was done last week. We use Mann filters which are oe and have never had any issues with them before.

Fuel pick up is very common. Id put money on it being that.

I had very similar problems and it was the fuel pick up, there was only about 20% of the filter clear enough to pull fuel though

Also check the vent in the fuel filler cap

both jobs very quick and easy to do
