2 DIN bezel for GPS

Hi,

I want to mount a 2 DIN GPS unit in my Landcruiser HZJ79. I have the most common (I think) dashboard where there is 1 DIN spot available and the other unit is a little shelf. This is all moulded plastic.
Is there a replacement unit available that has the full 2 DIN space available, or do I really have to put the saw in it?

I am sure I've seen others do this, please enlighten me

Hi Frederick,

Has your vehicle got the new plastic dashboard or the classic metal type?

Behind each is a double DIN cage which is held in place by 4 M6 machine screws. For the plastic dash you need to pry out the narrow plastic filler strips either side of the radio. For the classic dash you need to undo the 6 self tapping screws that hold the fascia over the radio and heater vents.
