all brake fluids equal?

Is make-x 5.1 the same as make-y 5.1 etc?
The last time I bled the brakes I used brake fluid from Toyota. Was not particularly expensive but Opie Oils has a cheaper option (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-893-motul-d ... hetic.aspx)
Seeing as I am ordering a tub of red grease from them, I thought I might as well bundle this in. They only have one option for DOT 5.1 fluid which is what I already have.

Toyota does not add mermaid tears to their brake fluid do they?

I really doubt that the Toyota stuff is that special. Any decent brand 5.1 should be good, just don't start mixing mineral with synthetic brake fluid. I use the carlube budget stuff DOT4, bought 4.55l of the stuff recently as I plan to do both cars soon.

Thanks. Seeing as there is little price difference between Toyota and Opie's version, I'll make a trip to Toyota seeing as they just round the corner.
